Human Rights Watch ("HRW") is an international human rights monitoring and advocacy organization known for its in-depth investigations, its incisive and timely reporting, its innovative and high-profile advocacy campaigns, and its success in changing the human rights-related policies of influential governments and international institutions.
The Middle East and North Africa division monitors human rights and international humanitarian law issues from Morocco to Iran.
Description: HRW will be establishing an office in Cairo and is seeking a consultant to help with translations and web-related work. The Arabic Language Coordinator's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, translating documents to and from Arabic; vetting Arabic translations; and editing, managing, and updating the HRW Arabic webpage.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communications skills in both Arabic and English.
Candidates should have IT expertise and experience with producing and editing online features using HTML, Photoshop, Flash and Illustrator. A background in journalism, editing, and copywriting is preferred. Previous NGO work experience, particularly in the field of human rights, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, well-organized, and able to work quickly and well under pressure, both independently and a part of a team. Egyptian work authorization is required.
