Actually the UN Commission of Enquiry on the Crimes in Darfur did not do perfect research on what happened in that region because it took the issue only from February 2003. Therefore, the Commission failed to establish the evidence to the level of genocide. However, had it taken the problem in a historical context elements from the governments of Suar al-Dahab and al-Sadig al-Mahdi would have also been included to the current list. So the two dying Sudanese parties (i.e. Umma Party and National Islamic Front) both colluded against the innocent cilvilians in Darfur. Bashir and Ali Osman have only completed the project that has been started by al-Sadig al-Mahdi and Hassan al-Turabi probably with the help from Mo'amar al-Ghadafi. A research project is underway to investigate the level of involvement both of Umma party and National Islamic Front in destroying the Darfur society immediately since 1978, their connection to the so-called “Arab Belt” and the involvement of Libya in it, why Burma Nasir tried to arm non-military segments of Sudanese civilians, why al-Sadig al-Mahdi legitimized the arming of non-military segments in western Sudan, and the role that both National Islamic Front and Umma party played in the first attempts of genocide in 1987-1989.
