The place where all humanity originated from in Sudan lies in the north-east of the country and is “not far away from the Nile River.”
Dr. Anthony Wilders Wohns, lead author of this study, said that they were “reconstructing the genomes of our ancestors and using them to form a vast network of relationships.”
“The very earliest ancestors we identify trace back in time to a geographic location that is in modern Sudan. These ancestors lived up to and over one million years ago – which is much older than current estimates for the age of Homo sapiens – 250,000 to 300,000 years ago,” Dr. Wohns said.
According to IFLScience, the researchers “were able to create a network of almost 27 million ancestors” and used samples that came “not just from modern humans, but also ancient people who lived across the world between thousands and hundreds of thousands of years ago.”
Researchers also employed “cutting edge algorithms” to look at patterns of genetic variation in the data and “predict” the areas common ancestors were found in the “family tree”
