Dear All Nobody in the Sudan can claim legitimacy in its traditional sense. The NIF came under the cover of darkness and overthrew a government which had haf-legitimacy because one part of the country voted it into power. The SPLM/A may claim some legitimacy in the South. Otherwise it would not have fought a scorh-earth war for twenty-two years, without the support from southerners. Now, the Darfur armed groups can also claim some legitimacy becaue the illigtimate government of Khartoum could not defeat them militarily like the SPLM/A. If we use the liberal democracy legtimacy definition, no one can claim legitimacy.
