Re: نداء الى جالية واشنطون لتحكيم صوت العقل (Re: Abdalla Yousif)

Fact: The Federation of the Sudanese American Associations (FSAA) has received a letter on October 8, 2010, with a set of questions. An excerpt from page 3 of that letter reads: The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has currently listed Sudan as a state sponsor of terrorism. Other parts of the letter are related to charitable organizations’ compliance with the regulations set forth by OFAC such as: checking the list of sanctioned targets named on OFAC’s list of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDNs); what safeguards and practices, both current and downstream, the organization should apply to protect charitable resources from exploitation by terrorists, their organizations and/or their supporters.
We would like to ask member organizations, such as SACDO in Washington D.C. area, its executive committee and members the following questions: Do you have knowledge about such a letter or not? On what basis are you planning to host this organization’s upcoming conference?
There are some legal and organizational issues need to be resolved, before finally resorting to procedural measures like convening conferences. Again, to Hassan Abdelnabi, who made some announcements on SACDO’s website regarding November 26-27 conference, Dabaz, Secretary of SACDO, and Dr. Siddig, President of SACDO, D.C. we would like to hear from you about this critical issue.
Thanks, Mohamed Gadkarim
