VERY URGENT APPEAL

We the Sudanese in the Diaspora find it really difficult to understand how the voting arrangements are the way they are. These is arrangements are anything but detrimental to exercising our right to vote. The blow is evident in that:
1/ Many Sudanese may not have a Sudanese identity document of those, the most likely not have that document are the Southern Sudanese. This begs the question of how are those Sudanese-and they are numerous- going to register? Accordingly how will they be able to vote at all?
2/ only two registration centres for Europe and 3 for USA and almost none for the whole of the African continent borders on the unthinkable. This is a most unreasonable arrangement. Are the Sudan Government and /or the Election commission serious?
3/ Time are not enough for people to register. On the light of the above and other issue, Registration time has to be extended.
4-Embassies have to consult with the Sudanese communities in the Diaspora on that and other issues.
This is an urgent appeal to all concerned to seriously consider this very serous matter. We appeal to the president of the Sudan to urgently look into this petition. Otherwise the whole democratic exercise is reduced to a mere contradiction in terms of the very essence of democracy.
Even if voting for the president, the exercise as it stands makes it impossible for millions of Sudanese in the Diaspora to vote.

We have submitted several appeals in pursuit of the right of millions of the Sudanese in the Diaspora to vote in the geographic constituencies. Those millions comprise some of the best qualified Northern and Southern Sudanese men and women. Most of those Sudanese have managed to achieve what they did mostly on their own. The majority relied on themselves to qualify for serving their people and country sometimes without help from the government or its embassies abroad.
Moreover most of them continue to carry the heavy persistent concern about the problems of the Sudan. Their heart felt urge to represent their country abroad in any community they happened to find themselves in another task most of them took upon themselves as ambassador of the Sudan broad.
It is by virtue of the above that the Sudanese Men and women, Northerners or Southerners strongly believe that they have the right to be represented in the geographic constituencies.
We are writing to seek to convinced the authorities concerned that a way could be found to make this right possible. It is also to remind the Government and whosoever is concerned that it is the duty of the government of the day to provide everything possible for those Sudanese to exercise their constitutional right. This right has been possible in other countries. It is known to the armed forces as well as civilian-such as the Sudanese in Saudi Arabia were able to vote as in the 1985 elections in the graduate constituencies. We suggest that this right could be made possible through electronic arrangements.
