يلا يا جماعة المباراة انتهت نرجع لموضوع الإنتخابات

Quote: رسالة إلى المفوضية القومية للانتخابات .. بقلم: د. علي بابكر الهدي الأربعاء, 18 نوفمبر 2009 09:58 د. علي بابكر الهدي – الولايات المتحدة السادة رئيس وأعضاء المفوضية القومية للانتخابات تحية واحتراماً جاء في صحيفة الأخبار الصادرة يوم 16 نوفمبر 2009 ما يلي: "من جانبه نفى المكتب الصحفي لمفوضية الانتخابات تسلمه أية مذكرات احتجاجية من السودانيين بالخارج حول نواقص عمليات التسجيل الانتخابي، وقال المكتب الصحفي أمس إنه لا وجود لمعلومات بهذا الشأن ولا تعليق." وهذا قول غير صحيح فقد كتب السودانيون في أماكن كثيرة مذكرات تعبر عن مخاوفهم من الحرمان من المشاركة في العملية الانتخابية وقدموا مقترحات عملية لإتمام عملية التسجيل بصورة تمكن الجميع من المشاركة في التسجيل والخطوات اللاحقة. ونحن في كاليفورنيا على سبيل المثال كتبنا مذكرة في يوليو للمفوضية بعد إعلانها عن بداية التسجيل في ذلك الوقت وأخرى في أكتوبر عد أن تغييرها لموعد التسجيل ونود أن ننشر هنا نص المذكرة الثالثة التي أرسلناها للمفوضية بعد قرارها فتح مركزين فقط للتسجيل في أمريكا أحدهما في واشنطن والأخر في نيويورك مما يعني حرماننا نحن الذين نسكن على بعد 2500 ميل من هذين المركزين من المشاركة. November 14, 2009 REF: Registering Sudanese in the USA for the upcoming elections H.E. Honorable Abel Alair Chairman of the National Election Commission, We, the undersigned Sudanese citizens, residing in the city of Monterey, California USA would like to express to you our deep concerns in regards to the arrangements put forward by the NEC for our participation in the mid-interim period elections. We are extremely disappointed with the NEC’s decision to have only two centers for registering the Sudanese living in the US, situated at the Sudan embassy in Washington and the Sudan UN Mission in New York. Such a decision is practically asking the Sudanese who are estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands, scattered all over the 50 states of the USA, to travel to these centers should they want to practice their right to register, and participate in these elections. We see that such a decision is tantamount to depriving us of our constitutional right to participate in these important elections. It is inconceivable that this large number, comprising mothers and working people, can afford the time and the expense of traveling to Washington in order to register. We, for example, who live in the City of Monterey, California which is 2550 miles from Washington and is 2705 miles form New York, must take about a 6 to 7 hours plane to arrive at the mentioned centers. The cost of an airline ticket for such a trip plus one day’s accommodation in a hotel is well over a thousand dollars. We have previously submitted a memorandum to the NEC suggesting that you open mobile centers where there is a high concentration of Sudanese citizens as well as the use of mail and technology to enable those who live in distant places to participate. We have also indicated that the requirement of having a valid passport for proof of identity is not practical as many Sudanese who live in the USA do not possess passports. We suggested accepting other forms of identity, which state clearly the nationality of the bearer, such as a birth certificate, Sudanese or US citizenship certificate, or testimony of two Sudanese who live in the same area. We certainly hope that the NEC will reconsider its decision in light of these facts in order to enable the Sudanese living in the Diaspora to take part in this historical event. Best regards
