What can we say! It is sad in a way, it seems that some of us are still far from learning from suffering and experiences! Are we really contributing to the real issues that affecting our lives and our country the way we should? Large sector of Sudanese live on the margin; others are marginalised by those who are in power and those who also live in the margin! The serious issues occupy few, God help us all!
I am also disturbed with the fact that some are delivering notions through this list, sacred to trap women in certain roles and images only. Are women excluded from the serious roles? In our time they were the main demonstrators in Intifada and most of the opposing activities against June regime are involving women, and I am not even mentioning here their roles in supporting their families, etc, so how come their strong roles and capability is made to be caught in that certain image?
يوجد بيننا من هم لا يؤمنون بالديمقراطية كنمط من انماط الحكم هؤلاء يتأخذون الديمقراطية كوسيلة مؤقتة أو عند الحاجة وهذه الفئة هم الأسلاميون (الأحزاب الأسلامية) والشيوعيون والطاهويون . . هذه الأحزاب وجهان لعملة واحدة احزاب عقائدية احادية الفكر .
We may be angry with sectarian parties, SCP and others, but it is unfair to put them all in one basket with those who stole our Intifada, killed our dreams and still sitting on our chests!
We also have to ask ourselves, did democracy have its good time of practice to prove its total failure/success? Democracy develops and improves itself with more freedom and practice of democracy; then it needs time, a new constitution based on human rights would be a step to start with.
It is not up to us to say we accept sectarian parties/others or not; this is useless because they are the people’s choice (April 1985) and came through a fair process of election, but what we can do is to work for raising the awareness about rights by criticizing them, work for a system of transparency and by using our freedom of expression’ right to do that, also, by having a good system of education that teaches the love to Sudan and not to its ruler, a system that emphasise the notion of equal rights to all. We need to address socio-economic issues like poverty, accountability and other issues, people will then say if they want or they don’t want these parties. Again this cannot be done with the absence of democracy, because it allows the space to move within. The last 16 years proved that only the “Inqaz” ideology is allowed to enforce its programme in education, politics, economy, new generations are brought up in this atmosphere, another burden added to democrats, how are we going to deal with all these issues?
I believe one of the problem facing us in the future (the near one I hope), is also how we, citizens of Sudan be accountable. We cannot hold people (leaders and others) responsible for their acts, if we are not doing the same. We should always remember that political parties ruling us during democracy were only in their position because we wanted them to be (for example votes) is it too much to demand? Rights mean duties, people must start evaluate themselves and their political organisation and others (Civil Society organisations).

Why can’t we keep our religion to ourselves and let people practice it in direct relation with God, who is anyone in this world to tell me what is right and what is not? And according to his/her own interpretation to religion?
International conventions are not far from the religion’ spirit why can’t people adopt them? Religion has become a tool of oppression; it has divided us in Sudan. A system that respects all people rights of adopting the sort of religion they want, and give them the right of equal practice of religion is the one we should have them in Sudan, even if we end up with the separation of south from north.

The NIF has worked hard to reach to this day; it has changed its name many times but never changed its mentality or programme of oppression. These NIFers have nothing to offer, and never had, in terms of love to Sudan and democracy. Their newspapers reflected their reality it was all about scandals, their tabloid never aimed to educate Sudanese, it only aimed to present itself as the only carer for ethics, while destroying the image of others. You can now recall the early days they came to power, and how they portrayed themselves as the only honest people and savers to Sudan, only to uncover few months later their true face! They are the big theifs! Look at the houses they used to live in and the huge properties they own now. Look at the division of classes in Sudan and how the middle class is dissolved into the very poor one! Examine their role during Numeiri’s regime in controlling the country and their banks that stole our money. Can we learn from this awful experience? Muna
