Iran, Sudan sign defense according to Iran TV Press
The Islamic Republic of Iran and Sudan have signed an agreement to bolster bilateral cooperation in the defense sector.
The agreement was inked by the Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar and his Sudanese counterpart Abdel Rahim Mohammed Hussein. The Iranian minister wound up his four-day visit to Khartoum and returned home Saturday.
The two ministers stressed expansion of defense cooperation as an important step in strengthening regional and international peace, stability and security.
Based on the agreement, Iran and Sudan pledged to promote technical, educational, scientific and industrial cooperation, exchange expert delegations and set up a defense cooperation commission.
Mohammad-Najjar said that Iran's defense diplomacy stresses the importance of playing a more dynamic role in regional and international developments to strengthen security and stability.
He slammed discriminatory and unilateral policies of bullying powers in respect of regional and international issues, calling them the main cause of global crises.
Expansion of relations with Islamic and African countries, Sudan in particular, is on the agenda of Iran's foreign policy he said, adding, "Iran supports the independence and territorial integrity of Sudan and voices its readiness to cooperate with it for its development."
