Khartoum, May 25 (SUNA)- The Foreign Minister, Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour, has affirmed the apparent openness of Sudan's relations with the European Union, indicating that the two sides have formed a joint committee to follow up the issues of illegal immigration, human trafficking and debts. At the weekly forum organized by the office of the spokesman of the Ministry of Information Wednesday, Prof. Ghandour said that the chill in Sudan relations with European countries began to dissipate. He referred to progress, even a slight one, was achieved in Sudan relations with Britain, adding that this progress shall be put on the proper place and evaluated correctly. Prof. Ghandour explained that Sudan has held meetings of joint consultation committees with 13 European countries. He said that visits will be exchanged between Sudan and the European Union for opening a new chapter in the relations between the two sides, based on the great regional role of Sudan and its foreign and internal policies, stressing that Sudan is enjoying cohesion, peace and security. The Foreign Minister said that Russia and China remained the top supporters of Sudan at the Security Council. He said that Sudan is maintaining strong relations with the Asian countries, adding that the relations with China have reached the level of signing a strategic agreement. He said that China remained the strong supporter to Sudan at the Security Council, in addition to its outstanding economic role in Sudan. He referred to a visit of the Chinese Minister of Agriculture to Sudan in the coming days. Meanwhile, Prof. Ghandour affirmed that Sudan is enjoying firm relations with the sister Arab countries and receiving support from the. He said that Sudan is taking part in the Alliance for defending the Arab nation. He indicated that the African dimension represents the backbone of Sudan foreign relations, appreciating the stances of the Africans in supporting Sudan against the International Criminal Court (ICC), the unfair blockade. He referred to the honorable stances and the strong decisions adopted by the African Union in supporting Sudan concerning the ICC and the unfair embargo.
