Sudan’s Vice-President, Hassabo Mohammed Abdel Rahman, stressed that the national dialogue initiative will continue until reach a national agreement that put a definitive end to conflict and war in the country, reiterating that the general elections will be held as scheduled by the National Elections Commission (NEC). Hassabo said in statements on Saturday that the call for the national dialogue is based on the national principles, pointing out that the State wants Sudanese dialogue away from the foreign intervention, noting that dialogue is the most effective solution of all Sudanese issues. Sudan’s Vice-President said that the elections on time don’t mean put away the national dialogue, praising the political forces that decided to participate in the election. The NCP rejects calls by Sudanese political forces to postpone the general elections scheduled for April until after the national dialogue and formation of a transitional government, saying it is a constitutional requirement that must be met. For its part, the National Elections Commission (NEC) said that it is the only body mandated to organize the ballot under the constitution and downplayed opposition boycott calls.
