Sudan's First Vice President praises the depth of relations between the country and Kuwait
Khartoum-Sudan's First Vice President, Ali Osman Taha, has praised the depth of relations between Sudan and Kuwait, expressing his thanks and appreciation for the efforts of Kuwaiti government and people for standing by Sudanese people who affected by the heavy rains and floods that swept many Sudanese cities.
This came during his meeting with Kuwaiti Ambassador to Sudan, Suleiman Abdullah Alharbi
For his part, Kuwaiti Ambassador expressed his thankfulness and gratitude for the government and people of Sudan for their hospitality and cooperation during the period in which he was stationed in Khartoum. Those qualities, he said, are not new to the Sudanese and he expressed hope for more cooperation and coordination to further the relations between the two countries into new horizons
According to the latest government figures, heavy rains and flash floods has affected some 530,000 people across Sudan and destroyed or damaged 74,000 homes.
The figures were cited by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in its weekly humanitarian bulletin for Sudan, for the week ending 18 August.
The government’s Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) says the figures are initial estimates only, with the numbers set to rise even further as more detailed assessments are carried out.
Khartoum is the hardest hit state in the country, with an estimated 84,000 people affected by flood waters, which also caused extensive damage to houses and infrastructure
