Popular Congress: Al-Bashir accepts two-year transitional government
|
Khartoum-The President of the Republic Omer Al-Bashir has accepted formulation of a transitional government provided that it should not exceed one or two years under a program to be agreed upon by all political parties, besides conducting constitutional amendments to govern the translational period, according to the opposition Popular Congress party.
Secretary of the External Relations of the Party, Dr. Basheer Adam Rahma said in an interview with the Qatari newspaper of Al-Watan on Sunday that the parties of the consultative forum on national dialogue have agreed on President Al-Bashir ‘s chairmanship of the high authority for dialogue until the convocation of the general conference, to be held after the end of the dialogue.
He stated that the higher coordination authority consists of 14 members from both the ruling party and its allies and the opposition parties, adding that it could reach 21 members if arms holders accepted to participate in the dialogue.
He stated that we have agreed on formulation of a committee of experts (independent and neutral figures) to be responsible for solving the differences that happen between the parties.
Rahama said that the President of the Republic and high leaders in the state believe that there dialogue is the sole option to solve the country’s problems. He said that some members in the National Congress oppose dialogue and do not like the democratization.
Rahama did not rule out that the armed movements would accept dialogue within the country if the government .created favorable climate, announced cease fire in operations areas and general amnesty on condemned figures
