Deng,
May be the Embassy has no cooling system to counter attack the hot weather of DC there days. ******************************************************************* I have received this related message from Mohamed Alghadi to be post here
Please join the global movement in support of 1.2 million of the Fur people who are literally staying now in the harsh desert of Darfur and Chad. A hunger strike will start tomorrow in more than 20 countries across the globe to highlight the tragedy in Darfur.
Please click on this link www.darfurgenocide.org/webcast.htm to register and become able to connect directly with the real voice of the people and listen to their stories…Via this online tool you can even engage in a direct dialogue with the people in the camps…
Please consider donating your lunch money ($5?) to any of the organizations you trust or those currently work directly with people in Darfur (check the orgs here: http://www.interaction.org/sudan/index.html or http://www.usaid.gov/locations/sub-saharan_africa/sudan/ngolist.html
Remember every dollar makes a difference: $30 (6 lunches) will help digging a pit latrine (there is a need for 3,000 ones to prevent the strong fear of Cholera outbreak on the Chadian borders); $2.5 will buy a trowel to be used by one family as part of ‘defecation set’.. there is a current need of 350,000 trowels.
Thanks for your noble solidarity…
Mohamed Ibrahim
