Many thanks for injecting some sense in a situation I never thought I will see among Sudanese despite the ugliness of the last few years.
It is a very unfortunate situation many Moslem minds are being infected by the curse of Wahabism petrodollars and its narrow-minded and distorted understanding of religion.
I always kept wondering about the discrepancies between the ideology of the Wahabi inspired fundamentalism and the real picture of life in the domain of Islam during the first 40 years after the message as projected in the history books about the life of Moslems in the early days of Islam (i.e. until the assassination of Omer bin Khattab). Their use of a particular verse in Quran to say that indiscriminate killing of Jews is a religious duty is actually contradicted by the reality on the ground during the life of the prophet (PBUH) and the years after. Apart from two Jewish tribes, others enjoyed the protection of Moslems and lived in Medina, Mecca and other parts of Arabia until the dawn of Wahabism. They traded and even became ministers in chambers of many rulers. So for me why these fundamentalists do not ask themselves some basic questions about their ideology. If what they say is the religious injection then how come the prophet himself did not apply such an injection?
An example of the double standards of these groups, especially those who lives in places like Britain, the fact that they see nothing wrong in enjoying all provisions of the “Kuffar” such as free health care, free education, free protection of the law, free housing when needed, social security payments for the needy, etc, while conveniently forgetting that none is free but is coming from the taxes we all pay in different ways. They forget that a percentage of the money used is coming directly from taxes on alcohol, gambling, prostitution, etc. They also got no problem dealing with a financial system they detest.
As you said it indirectly, many need to learn that the lump between their ears is a gift to be used and not abused. To think rather than just follow the people who until few years back were insisting that the earth is flat and kept using the scripture to justify their claims. If they are wrong then how can we be sure they are right now?
