In brief, the gist of the movie (The scent of a woman) was about Charlie a boy from a humble background, who was on a scholarship, accepted a job offer to assist a blind retired Army officer(Frank/Al Pacino )on weekends. A kind of a close friendship developed between them.Later on Chrlie told Frank that he witnessed a prank or a mischief set up by a group of students that resulted in the humiliation of the Headmaster, and that he was supposed to appear before a disciplinary committee. The witnesses to that vandal act (Three students including Charlie) were all protected by the social and wealthy status of their fathers being; school board trustees, except for Charlie who came from a very humble ground. The Headmaster tried to exploit Charlie vulnerability, by offering him a bribe in the form of a letter of recommendation that would virtually grantee him a Harvard scholarship, if he divulged the names of the perpetrators, but Charlie refused to sell out his friends and buy out his future. The Headmaster resorted to the tactic of threat: that he was going to recommend to the committee that Charlie be expelled, and here came Al Pacino in the defense of Charlie.

In my viewpoint, Frank ( Al Pacino) defended Charlie in such spectacular manner that would have stunned the most articulate of lawyers,and great orators alike. The speech he delivered was worthy of being taught as a cirriculum in the " Future Leaders' School,and that alone was enough to award him the Oscar or whatever award there is for great performance
