Regional Institute for Gender, Diversity, Peace and Rights

    Introduction:
To achieve a broader perspective, Ahfad University for Women established a women's studies unit in 1986, and then promoted it in 1999 to become an Institute of Women, Gender and Development Studies (IWGDS). AUW aims to promote its current Institute of Women, Gender and Development Studies to be a regional institute of excellence with a vision to promote not just gender equality but also peaceful coexistence, respect for differences, diversities and human rights. The Regional Institute of Gender, Diversity, Peace, and Rights (RIG/DPR) established in 2010 and its region is East Africa, North and West Africa and beyond.
The RIG/DPR is launched in partnership with the Universities of Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and Makerere in Uganda.
