انتهاكات جسيمة ومنتظمة لحقوق الانسان في السودان – أبريل 2011

Sudan Human Rights Network Gross and systematic violations of Human Rights in Sudan, April 2011 SHRN condemns the violent crackdown on peaceful demonstrations organized by Darfurian students in Nyala the capital of south Darfur, Delang in the state of south Kordofan and in Khartoum. Students' demonstrators were calling for the end of the war in Darfur and bring those culprits to justice. Security forces used maximum force to disperse the students. Many were reported injured or arrested by the security forces. Among them; In Nyala, South Darfour, Mohamed Abdalla (AKA Mohamed Ali Clay) In cities of Kamlin, Hasaheisa, and Medani; 1- Ahmad Taha Al-shareef 2- Sami Nouraldin 3- Mohammad Sameer Aldow 4- Mohammad Alqasim Altayib 5- Isam Alqasim Altayib 6- Shaady Salah Ibrahim 7- Diyab Mohammad Diyab 8- Shukralla Alamin 9- Christover Souly Afigito 10- Sabir Mohammad Rufayi 11- Alsadig Haj Yousif SHRN is deeply concerned by the politically motivated arrest of Mr. Adil Ibrahim Abdel Rahim Karar. Mr. Karar a vocal human right activist was arrested following a pro-democracy political rally held on Khartoum on January 30th 2011. Mr. Karar is currently detained in the security office compound in Khartoum North. SHRN received confirmed reports that the health of Mr. Karar continues to deteriorate as a result of brutal physical and mental torture. Mr. Karrar who suffers from arthritis and back pains has developed blood pressure, hemorrhoids and other illnesses during his detention. According to his family who visited him once since his arrest, his health has steadily worsened and he urgently required hemorrhoids surgery. Based on the information received by SHRN, the students and youth, who participated in January and February protests, were subjected to severe beatings, electrical shocks and other abuses that amounted to torture. SHRN is deeply alarmed by reports coming from Khartoum that Dr. Nahid Mohamed Hassan a well known civil rights activist is placed under house arrest by security forces. Dr. Nahid a Sudanese medical doctor was renowned for her famous hunger strike in March 2010 in protest of the policies of the current regime in Khartoum. Since that time she continued to suffer restrictions to her freedom. SHRN strongly condemns the arbitrary arrest of Mr. Adil Karar and stop harassing Dr. Nahid Mohamed Hassan. SHRN call upon the Sudanese authority to immediately release the detained civil rights activist. SHRN also, urge all Human Rights Organizations to exert pressure on the Sudanese government to respect and uphold the principles of human rights as enshrined in the International conventions and to immediately release those prisoners of conscience.
