Dear Adil
I think itis a positive step from Algerian singers and artists to come to Sudan. Sudanese people need to know more about the rich cultures of Algeria and Algerians need to know about Sudanese cultures. We shouldn't be sensitive and insert Egypt in this issue. what is between Egypet, and Algeria is their own business. I myself feel glad when there is a cultural, and educational exchange between Sudan, and Algeria.we need to listen to their internationl music, Rai, and watch their movies, and read to their famous novelists. Algerians adored Eltayeb Salih, now they need to know more about Sudanese writers. From my contacts with Algerians in the US, and the Arab Middle East, I found them remember and appreciate the support that they received from Sudanese people during their long struggle for independence. Algerians considered our late uncle Elnayel as one of their heroes. I personally being introduced to activism through the solidarity with the Algerian struggle when I volunteered as 6 years old pupil to collect donation from the teachers, and pupils at Beit Alamna Elementary School, Omdurman, in 1960-1961. The Committee to support the Algerian struggle in Khartoum was headed by my grandfather ,the late professor Mekki Shibeika. I was so glad when I met the representative of the Algerian Exiled government in Sudan at that time. After all, my name is Elmoiz, named after the Algerian born king Elmoiz Lideen Allah Elfatimi.
