Dear Sara
Greeting and thankd ofr your interesting articles. Many people have a very negative views about Hizb Allah and consider it, yet another, fanatic and terrorst organizations lead by mulas and deserve to be condemned whatever it does.I beg to differ for the followign reasons:1) Hizallah existed because of the Israeli occupation of lebanon in 1982.2) they have a socila support and may be the biggest or secound biggest part in Lebanon.3)They nevr in their all political activites mentioned that they are about establishing a religious state in lebanon-which is impossible any way.4) they took on the responssibilty of the resistance when all the lebanese army followed their sects and abandoned the defence of lebanon and some of them collaborated with the Israli occuaption!5) They managed to unify lebanon including its government which is now negotiating on behalf of Hizb Allah.60They now part of a coalliton government which they joined on the condition that they will not abandon their prisoners in the Israli jails and that they intend to kidnap some Israli soldiers and exchange them for thier own-which after all this war is going to happen
There is no way to compare them with the rulers in Khartoum who have never fought against any foreign army in their lives and all the fighting they did was against fellow sudanese!
Today, in Israel the opinion poles indicate that 63% and 74% would like the prime minster and the defence minster respectively to resign ! During the war the same poles were more than 80% in support of both. So, what happened after the war?-Israeli people feel they were defeated. Also, the defence minster blamed command and logistical problems for the poor performance of the Israeli army. You may say this is Iran war but many would reply that Israels are also doing the USA job for them
In the beginging of the war the Israeli objectives were: To destroy Hizb Allah and disarm it-not achieved, release the kidnapped 2 soldiers-not achieved, and try to isolate Hisb Allah within lebanon Allah-not achieved and lebanese are much more united than before. Iam sure you agree if an army did not achieve any of its objectives they are defeated. Hizb allah only has to continue to exist intact to win this war and they did.
The government of Sudan will at the end of the day accept the deployment of foreign/UN troops whether they like it or not because their instincts of survival is stronegr than any "hot-air" speaches. They will get reassurance from the USA that the leading criminals in the government will not be prosecuted in the Hague and the Bush messneger is on her way to deliver the message soon
Best wishes
Adil
