Khartoum, 22 August (SUNA)- Sudan and South Sudan are agreed to settle all security and political dossiers as well as reopen crossing point in a maximum of three weeks, reaffirming the need to have security and stability in the region.
Taban Deng, the visiting First Vice President from South Sudan, told the press following his meeting with the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omar Bashir, that the situation in South Sudan was now stable and that his country is keen to implement all the agreements signed and avoid returning to the war situation.
The South Sudan First Vice present stressed that "our choice is to have peace in South Sudan."
He said his visit to the Sudan comes within the context of the dialogue within the one family with the view to achieve peace in the two countries, calling on the Sudan to help South Sudan achieve stability and security.
He stressed that South Sudan will never be a launching pad for any hostile action against the Sudan.
He expressed hope that the Sudan would not be a launching pad for Machar, appealing to the SPLA-N to listen to the call for peace, stressing that South Sudan would work to back this trend and for the prevalence of peace in all the bigger Sudan region.
He said the stability of the Sudans will be stability for the whole region.
Taban has appreciated the directives given by the president of the republic that immediate assistance be given to the people of South Sudan from the strategic reserve from the Kosti River port to Juba and via land to Bahar Gazal and Western Bahr Gazal and upper Nile and Liri areas
Taban appealed for assistance to the people of South Sudan politically and economically, saying that assistance on the operation of the Nile field in unity state would boost the economy of the two counties and that the same is applicable for the oil field in upper Nile region.
He criticized the resolution 2304 saying it was infringing the sovereignty of south Sudan, saying that the south should be given an interim period and that the south appeals for the backing of the people of the Sudan in this regard.
He further pointed out that there are some strategic projects being planned between the two countries including the land road from port Sudan to Nimule in south sudn, referring to the many riches that the South Sudan sits on and which have not been exploited yet.
He said the minister of defense has been instructed to immediately implemented the execution of the security issues agreed upon.
On the people of South Sudan to choose cessation the southern Sudanese leader said he does not believe that people of South Sudan have hastened to opt for separation.
He denied that there are any Ugandan troops in juba save those that chase the leader of the Lord Resistance Army.
