Is there any Slavery in Sudan and Arab World???Yes or No !!!

Dear Peter.
It is a big joke. I have been there (SPLA) from 1990 to 1992 in all Eastern Equatoria and from 1992 to 1994 in Nariobi. I have come to know most of SPLA officers and leaders and I did not see any slaves what so ever but Ihave seen some of my own tribe and people has been taken after the fall of Torit in 1989. If you see the siutations of these women who lost their husband in that battle you will not believe it. I did not consider it as slave although they have been force to sleep with soilders and sought officers protections in state of gang rape. That was the by products of wars. Also there was the practice of stealing some one kids and women in tribal raids which wildly curried by most of the herdmen tribes e.g Morlie,Noer, Tabosa etc.The abducted victim will be treated as a family member and when the abductor return back they normally sell kids for about 20 cows. For a Wisterner this practice is a clear cut slavery but it is an acceptable tradition in Southern Sudan. I repeat again the motive for abductions were to have more kids and wifes not to humilate and slave others. I have addressed conferences and participated in discussion forum at York university in Canada between 1995-1996 and defended the Sudanese people aganist this unjust accusation.
