    Goals

    1. To provide genetic testing that is necessary for the diagnosis, management, and counseling of patients and families with inherited diseases

    2. To provide molecular diagnostic service

    3. To be the reference lab in the Gulf region for genetic disorders

    4. To serve as an advanced institution for scientific research and education in the field of molecular medicine

In this context with the above directions and goals, Her Highness Princess Al-Jawhara AlEbrahim, The Wife of His Highness the Custodian of the Two Holly Mosques generously donated 6.2 Million US Dollars to establish the Centre for Molecular Medicine, Genetics & Inherited Diseases. The general layout represents available resources and a complete new building with all facilities and equipment to be connected with the current temporary location.

The center includes expertise in- and facilities for cytogenetics, metabolic disorders and molecular genetics that provide services as for example for:

    1. Prenatal Screening: both

    2. Before pregnancy: for thalassemias, sickle cell diseases, and chromosomal translocations

    3. Prenatal stage: for G6PD (including full genotyping) and counseling, and chromosomal abnormalities (including trisomies).

    4. Neonatal stage: for metabolic diseases as phenylketonurias, hypothyroidism, biotin deficiencies and hemoglobinopathies.

    5. Diagnosis of Cancers:

Ö Chromosomal translocations: for AML and ALL (by quantitative PCR).

Ö Minimal residual disease; by real-time PCR for IgH TcR rearrangement.

    Ö X-linked Genetic disorders: including fragile X-syndrome.

Ö Inherited cancers: such as colorectal and breast cancers.

    Hemoglobinopathies:
    Sickle Cell Disease.
    Hemochromatosis.
    Thalassemias.

    Directions of our research

The basic research projects at our Molecular Medicine Center address mechanisms in biological systems, computational biology, structural biology and approaches to diagnostics, prophylaxis and therapy.

Research activities are often collaborative between several investigators within the center and from other groups. Joint projects and research grant applications within the institute and with foreign institutions are strongly encouraged. It is recommended that research to be generally organized into units, which include Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Neuroscience (including autism research), and molecular genetics.

The general guidelines for the future plans contain rich ideas with imagination and philosophy, application of high technology, towering quality science, generation of external funds and establishment of national, regional and international networks.

    GENERAL:

    NOMINATIONS FOR PRIZES:

    1. King Faisal International Prize for Medicine, in the field of Molecular Immunology.

    2. Kuwait prize in the category of distinguished scientific research of an Arab citizen in the fields of Basic (A) and applied (B) Sciences.

    3. Anders Jahres price in Medicine for young medical researcher in the Nordic Countries.

    HI,

The resume or CV showed that Dr Muiz has strong background, qualification and excellent reputation, but there is weakness’ of resume structure and organizing which will make the résumé more focus and in light Prof. Muiz

I believe the resume and C.V will be more comprehendible if structured in form as this (Example)

    1- Education
    2- Objectives
    3- Qualification Summary
    4- Areas of Expertise
    5- Major contributions
    6- Professional Experience
    7- Conferences and Seminars
    8- Publications
    9- Addendum

It is very important for resume writing to
    1- Appearance
2- clarity ( Grammatical, syntactical errors or inconsistencies)
3- Contents (Accomplishments insufficiently treated or, where appropriate, not quantitatively stated
4- Do not repeat word ( word Ability written more than three times)
5- The resume should be written either chronologically or functionally
    6- A resume must communicate-totally an instantly

This is not criticism, just some suggestions.

    Thanks with respect

The curriculum vitae, or CV, is the academic equivalent to a resume. It is a record of achievement and a representation of a professor’s professional past and aspirations. It is important for a CV to be complete and accurate. Many institutions will use their employees' CV’s as evaluating tools. Sometimes it is a good idea to have a master copy of your CV or resume that includes everything. Then when you use your CV, you can edit out the extraneous experience as needed.
