Position: Statistician/Database Expert
Reports to: Head, Statistics Section
Department: Economic Policy & Strategic Planning (EPSP) Department
Job Summary: The Statistician/Database Expert in the EPSP Department will be responsible for collecting, processing and disseminating data used by the IDB Group in fulfilling its mission. He will maintain, manage and update the IDB Live Database (ILDB) as well as databases on operational activities of the IDB Group. He will have working knowledge and practical experience with Statistical Information System (SIS) as applied to international organizations. He will work on databases to create tools for preparing canned reports. He will have strong statistics, economics and IT background.
Principal Tasks: The principal tasks and duties of the Statistician/Database Expert will include the following:
Manage, maintain and update all IDB Statistical Databases including the IDB Live Database (ILDB) and other internal databases related to the operational activies of the IDB Group.
Monitor data quality, validity and ensure consistency of data published in IDB documents.
Prepare the IDB Statistical Publications and contribute to various Reports.
Provide statical services to professionals in the EPSP Department and other departments/offices/organs within the IDB Group.
Conduct statistical and other related studies on issues of relevance to IDB mission.
Contribute to the development of new tools and statistical products to enhance statistical information system in the IDB Group.
Coordinate data and database administration issues with other data generating entities in IDB Group and maintain close cooperation with international organizations.
Support and train data users by providing help and guidance in producing canned reports and other basic data related IT trouble shooting.
Undertake any assignments given to him by the Director of the EPSP Department.
Participate in Committees and Tasks Forces which he may be invited.
Selection Criteria
A Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Information System or any relevant field.
At least 5 years of database work experience.
Solid knowledge of databases and reports generation.
Thorough working knowledge of macroeconimc and sectoral indicators, and ability to monitor for quality.
Basic programming skills highly desirable.
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, communication skills (verbal and written), a positivbe attitude and ability to work well in team environment.
Excellent elient service/orientation skills in terms of providing service and training to units, and coordinating database maintenance with other units in a collegial and collaborative relationship.
High degree of motivation, initiative, flexibility and reliability. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education Specialist Bachelors / Masters degree in Education or related field
Minimum 10 years experience in Education sector with Bachelors degree and 6 years experience with Masters degree
Principal tasks include:
To participate in identification, preparation and appraisal and follow up missions dealing with or related to projects invovling education and/or training components for human resources development
To prepare analyze and evaluate various methodologies related to the education sector in the determination of the socio-economic needs and financial constraints and proposals.
To act as the focal point in the Department with regard to cooperation with sister institutions such as (the World Bank, UNESCO, WHO, UNICEDF, AfDB) in projects/programs related to the area of education/training and human resources development.
To participate in the identification of training needs and hygiene consideration in other non-education related projects, which contain training components (such as technical assistance projects for ministries and executing agencies).
To outline a strategic role for IDB in the education and vocational training sector.
Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Proficiency in Arabic and English. French will be an advantage.

Social Sector (Health) Specialist B.Sc., B.A. (Medical Sciences) or related fields
Minimum 10 years of experience in Health sector in reputed organizations.
Principal tasks include:
To participate in identification, preparation and appraisal and follow up missions dealing with or related to projects invovling health and/or training components for human resources development.
To prepare analyze and evaluate various methodologies related to the health sector in the determination of the socio-economic needs and financial constraints and proposals.

Operations Officer (0922) Master degree (preferably in economics or in business administration).
Minimum 10 years experience in carrying periodic review of the economic situation, identifying areas of investments, project supervision, making recommendations about financing, participating in financing negotiations and formulating financing programs.
Proficiency in Arabic and English. French will be an advantage.

Equity Officer (1659) MBA in Finance, CFA or equivalent degree.
Minimum 8 years post qualification experience of working in an international bank or financial institution, dealing in direct Equity Investment, Quasi Equity instruments and well connected to the financial market operations. Candidate should be capable for identifying investment opportunities in the above areas.
Computer literate and proficient in application of MS Word, Excel, etc.
Proficiency in Arabic and English. French will be an advantage.

Financial Analyst (1011) MBA in Finance, CPA or CFA or equivalent degree.
Minimum 5 years post qualification experience working in an international Bank or financial institution, financial modeling and spread sheeting, unit's budgetary plan, system design and implementation, writing reports & giving presentations and should be well versed with financial market operations.
He should also have a working knowledge of various financial instruments currently used by Islamic Banks and financial institutions.
The candidate should be well versed with the preparation, analysis and interpretation of financial statements, especially those related to banks and financial institutions.
Computer literate and proficient in application of MS Word, Excel. Etc.
Proficiency in Arabic and English. French will be an advantage.

Data Processing Officer
MA in Accounting or CA or CPA with strong IT background.
Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in reviewing completeness and accuracy of all accounting documents and information received from various Division within the Treasury Dept. Updating and reconciling all investment and currency positions based on the activities undertaken by the Department and updating daily the income statement including realized and accrued income as well as realized and unrealized forex currency gains/losses.
Will participate in the preparation of reports required by the Management and other Windows /Clients of the Bank
Will ensure compliance with counter-party exposure limits and coordinate with IT Department on system maintenance and enhancement of the Department.
Proficiency in Arabic and English. French will be an advantage.

Post Conflict Specialist
Bachelor degree (Social or Behavioral Sciences).
Minimum 5 years experience of international relief and rehabilitation work.
Planning, coordination and implementation skills.
Report/briefing preparation and presentation skills, ability to work as a team member. Flexible and pleasant disposition.
Computer literate and proficient in use of MS Office.
Proficiency in English and Arabic. Knowledge of French will be an advantage.

Project Officer
MBA (Investment & Banking) or MBA (Finance & Investment) or MBA (Finance)
Minimum 5 years experience in an international financial institution/commercial or investment bank with proven skills in Financial Credit Analysis of Corporations in major industrial sectors, assessment of credit risk, recognizing the potential for future problems, commercial bank operating procedures and systems with particular emphasis on risk assessment and monitoring, knowledge of treasury products, trade finance and payments systems.
Proficiency in Arabic & English. French will be a plus.
Computer and advance office automation literate (Windows, MSWord, Excel, Power Point and MS Project).
