Although they seem like a nuisance, the stickers or labels attached to fruit and some vegetables have more of a function than helping scan the price at the checkout stand. The PLU code, or price lookup number printed on the sticker, also tells you how the fruit was grown. By reading the PLU code, you can tell if the fruit was genetically modified, organically grown or produced with chemical fertilizers, fungicides, or herbicides.
Here are the basics of what you should know:
If there are only four numbers in the PLU, this means that the produce was grown conventionally or “traditionally” with the use of pesticides. The last four letters of the PLU code are simply what kind of vegetable or fruit. An example is that all bananas are labeled with the code of 4011.
If there are five numbers in the PLU code, and the number starts with “8”, this tells you that the item is a genetically modified fruit or vegetable. Genetically modified fruits and vegetables trump being organic. So, it is impossible to eat organic produce that are grown from genetically modified seeds. A genetically engineered (GE or GMO) banana would be: 84011
If there are five numbers in the PLU code, and the number starts with “9”, this tells you that the produce was grown organically and is not genetically modified. An organic banana would be: 94011
Incidentally, the adhesive used to attach the stickers is considered food-grade, but the stickers themselves aren’t edible.

معلومة خطيرة جدا: هل تعلم لماذا يتم وضع ملصقات صغيرة على الفواكه والخضروات... fruit label numbers
الكثير منا لا يهتم بالملصقات العديدة التي تكون على الخضروات والفواكه، فنحن عندما نراها نقوم بنزعها بدون أن ننتبه لما عليها، لكي يتم غسلها، على الرغم من أهمية تلك الأرقام التي وضعت لتنبيه المشتري إلى أمر في غاية الأهمية والسبب وراء وضع تلك الكتابة التي قد يراها البعض على أنها مزعجة بعض الشيء ولا فائدة من وجودها، شاهد تلك الصورة وستتعرف على ما هو مدون على الخضروات والفاكهة لماذا تختلف الأرقام كما هو موضح بالصورة أسفل، فالمنتج العضوي وهو الطبيعي والذي لم يتم استخدام أي أسمدة أو مبيدات كيماوية خلال زراعته، ولم تستخدم مياه الصرف الصحي في إثماره، يحمل خمسة أرقام، بعكس المنتجات العادية التي هي مكونة من أربعة أرقام فقط، والتي تم خلالها استخدام المبيدات الكيماوية. أما بالنسبة للمعدل وراثيا، فهو الذي لا ينصح الأطباء باستخدامه لمراعاة الصحة العامة، فنحن يجب علينا أن ننتبه لما هو مدون على هذه الملصقات لتجنب الأمراض لنا ولجميع أفراد أسرتنا.
إذا كان الرقم PLU مكونا من 5 أرقام
وأول رقم من اليسار هو 9
فمعى هذا أنه منتج عضوي
هنا مثلاً 94011 , يعني عضوي
ماذا يقصد بالمنتج العضوي ؟
يعني أنه تمت زراعته وإثماره بدون مبيدات أو اسمدة كيماوية
أو تعديل وراثي أو إشعاعات مؤينة -
وبعيدة عن التلوث بمياه الصرف الصحي..
إذا كان الرقم مكونا من 4 خانات كما في الصورة :
4025 : معنى هذا أنه تمت زراعته زراعة تقليدية
يعني أيضا أنه مستخدم فيه أسمدة كيمياوية
وهذا موجود بكثرة في أسواقنا..
اذا وجدت الرمز مكونا من 5 خانات وأول رقم من اليسار هو 8
كالذي بالصورة 84139
معنى هذا أنه تم تعديله وراثيا " وفي هذا من الخطورة ما فيه " ومن أجل صحتك فينبغي الإبتعاد عنه
فهو غير صحي !!!@@
