رابط مختصر كشف أحد أقرب المقربين من دونالد ترامب تفاصيل جديدة عن ذلك "الصديق المشترك" الذي بينه وبين جوليان أسانج الذي كان همزة الوصل في نقل أخبار رسائل هيلاري كلينتون المسربة عبر "ويكيليكس" والتي تبادلتها المرشحة الرئاسية بينها وبين أعوان حملتها وداعميها.
في مقابلة مع صحيفة "الغارديان"، قال روجر ستون، المستشار العتيد غير الرسمي للمرشح الرئاسي الجمهوري، إن الخبر كان وصله مقدماً بشكل تعميمي غير مفصل بخصوص الرسائل المخجلة والحساسة المسربة من هيئة الحملة الانتخابية الديمقراطية، وإن من وشى له بالأمر كان صديقاً أميركياً متحرراً يعمل في الصحافة والإعلام.
زعم ستون أن مصدره الأميركي الذي رفض الإفصاح عن اسمه، كان التقى أسانج، مؤسس "ويكيليكس"، في لندن وأنه "صديق مشترك" لكل من ستون وأسانج.
مصدر ويكيليكس لا تربطه أي علاقة بحملة ترامب
ستون قال إن مصدر "ويكيليكس" لا تربطه أي علاقة بحملة ترامب إلا أنه كان بمثابة همزة الوصل مع ستون الذي يعمل مستشاراً خارجياً للمرشح الرئاسي الجمهوري، ما سمح للمستشار ستون بأن يكتب تغريدات وتعليقات عامة قبيل كشف موقع ويكيليكس بعض الحقائق المهمة.
سبق ذلك حديث من قبل معارف ترامب لصحيفة الغارديان قال فيه إن ستون تباهى ذات مرة بالتقائه أسانج نفسه وأنه أخبر المصدر - النشط في أوساط الحزب الجمهوري - أن "ويكيليكس" سيمطر هيلاري كلينتون "بحجارة من سجيل". بيد أن ستون نفى بحذر أن يكون التقى أسانج أو أن لديه أي علاقة اتصال مباشرة به أو من سواه في "ويكيليكس". وكتب في رسالة إلكترونية لـ"الغارديان": "مصدركم يغشكم يا حضرات".
محرّض العامة
رغم كتابته لتغريدات وتعليقات سبقت كشف "ويكليكس" للتسريبات المهمة – ومنها ما جاء مؤخراً في أكتوبر/تشرين الأول بخصوص مدير حملة كلينتون جون بوديستا ومؤسسة كلينتون - فقد قال ستون الذي يطلق على نفسه لقب "محرض العامة" والذي كان في يوم من الأيام قد اضطلع بألاعيب قذرة في فضيحة ووترغيت إن مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالية (إف بي آي) لم يكن قد اتصل به بخصوص التحقيق في قرصنة الحاسوب غير القانونية التي طالت رسائل خاصة بالحزب الديمقراطي وهيئته الانتخابية، وعبر عن عدم شعوره بالقلق قائلاً: "لا شيء يستحق التحقيق بشأنه".
أما إدارة أوباما، فاتهمت روسيا بأنها مصدر القرصنة.

لكن تغريدات ستون وتعليقاته التي سبقت إصدار "ويكيليكس" لتسريباته لاحقاً وضعته تحت أضواء الإعلام المسلطة والمركزة، فهذه واحدة من الطرق العديدة والمثيرة للجدل التي اضطلع فيها بدور داعم استشاري لترامب من خارج أسوار حملته بعدما كان العام الماضي قد حمل على عاتقه عدة أشهر دوراً رئيسياً في الحملة الجمهورية الانتخابية من الداخل.
#هيلاري الغشاشة
في أغسطس/آب وقبل وقت طويل من نشر "ويكيليكس" رسائل بوديستا، غرد ستون على تويتر قائلاً: "اسمعوا مني وثِّقوا بي؛ لأنه عما قريب سيكون الدور على بوديستا كي يتحمل ويلقى ما سيلقاه . #هيلاري الغشاشة. 21 أغسطس/آب 2016".
بعد نشر الآلاف من رسائل بوديستا الشهر الماضي، قال بوديستا للصحافة: "من الاستنتاج المنطقي القول إن السيد ستون وصلته تحذيرات مقدماً وإن حملة ترامب وصلتها تحذيرات مسبقة من كل ما كان أسانج مُقدِماً على فعله".
وفي رده على تعليقات بوديستا، قال ستون لصحيفة "Daily Caller" المحافظة: "لقد اعترفت بأني كنت على تواصل مع أسانج عن طريق وساطة شخص"، وأضاف: "هم لا يخبرونني بماذا سينشرون".
تواصلت بالفعل مع آسانج
بالمثل، قال ستون لصحيفة في فلوريدا: "لقد تواصلت بالفعل مع أسانج، وأظن الدفعة الجديدة من وثائقه تتعلق بمؤسسة آل كلينتون، لكن ما من وسيلة كي نتكهن بالمفاجآت التي يحملها لنا أكتوبر/تشرين الأول".
الشهر الماضي، نشر "ويكيليكس" آلاف الرسائل الداخلية الخاصة بمؤسسة كلينتون، منها رسائل تتحدث عن وجود هوة في الرواتب والأجور بين الجنسين.
لكن ستون نفى صحة تلميحات بوديستا وبعض ديمقراطيي الكونغرس بأنه قد يكون اضطلع بدور في تسريبات "ويكيليكس" أو في القرصنة، مؤكداً أنه لا تجمعه بروسيا لا علاقات مالية ولا زبائن وعملاء.
الانتخابات مزورة
ستون الذي قال إنه يتحدث إلى ترامب نحو مرة كل أسبوع في المتوسط، هو ضيف منتظم على برنامج الراديو "Infowars" وغيره من برامج "التوك شو" النقاشية المحافظة على الراديو، وهو يروج لنظريات المؤامرة وللرأي غير المدعوم بالأدلة القائل بأن الانتخابات فيها تزوير وغش، وهو الرأي الذي يتبناه ترامب. فقد قال ستون لـ"الغارديان": "كل هذه الانتخابات هذا العام مزورة ومغشوشة حتى المناظرات الرئاسية".

من هذا المنطلق، تزعّم ستون مشروعاً مثيراً للجدل لمسح اقتراع الناخبين في 9 مدن فور خروجهم من مكاتب الاقتراع بعد إدلائهم بأصواتهم، وقد هوجم هذا المشروع ووصفه خبراء مستقلون بأنه قد يشكل "قمعاً للناخبين"، كما رفع الديمقراطيون دعوى قضائية ضده وحرّك أحد مسؤولي الحزب الجمهوري من معارف ستون ليقول: "هذه واحدة من أقدم ألاعيب روجر وهي مثال حي على قمع الناخبين".
كذلك، قال ستون إنه "يدعم تماماً" موقف ترامب في الانتظار حتى انتهاء الانتخابات حتى يستبين هل يقبل بالنتائج إن خسر أم لا؛ لأن "الأمر يعتمد على أمر واحد فقط؛ هو: هل ستجرى الانتخابات بشكل نزيه عادل"ز
تحدث إلى "الغارديان" بيتر كيلي، الذي هو شريك سابق في مجموعات الضغط (اللوبي) ديموقراطي الحزب، فقال: "إن روجر يعمل ضمن منظومة قوانين مختلفة، وهدفه هو العرقلة والبلبلة. لديه أساليب ملتوية غير معهودة".

وكان ستون أحد الوجوه الشابة في عملية الألاعيب القذرة الخاصة بالرئيس الأميركي ريتشارد نيكسون التي شابت حملته الانتخابية لإعادة الترشح عام 1972؛ وقتها كان ستون في الـ19 من عمره وتمكن من نصب ألعوبتين سياسيتين قذرتين، وفق ما جاء في جلسات تقارير الكونغرس عام 1973 حول فضيحة ووترغيت حينما اتفق ستون مع أحد الأعضاء العاملين في الحزب الجمهوري كي يتغلغل ويندس في حملة المرشح الديمقراطي جورج مكغوفرن ثم يقدم تبرعات وإسهامات لحملة الجمهوري بيت مكلوسكي باسم التحالف الاشتراكي الشاب. وإبان افتضاح أمره وأمر عملياته تلك التي تمت في الخفا،ء طرد ستون من وظيفته ضمن فريق عمل السيناتور بوب دول. جدير بالذكر أن لدى ستون وشماً على ظهره يمثل وجه الرئيس نيكسون.
وعبثاً، أجريت العديد من محاولات الاتصال بأسانج للحصول على تعليق حول اتصاله مباشرة أو غير مباشرة بستون، دون طائل.
A week ago, the US election looked to be over. Hillary Clinton was riding so high in the polls after a disastrous series of gaffes by Donald Trump that few could conceive of a Republican path to victory on 8 November. Friday’s shock intervention by the FBI may not be enough to change that outcome on its own, but it has certainly set political imaginations running wild.
The worry for Democrats is that fresh inquiries regarding Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state come at a difficult time. Not only is it hard to prove a negative and re-establish her innocence with barely a week to go until the election, but the letter to congressional officials from director James Comey capped a tricky run of news that was already making a sizable dent in her polling lead.
Momentum for Trump began to recover first thanks to another set of emails, the contents of which perhaps explain why the Clintons risked so much to try to retain control of her electronic communications in the first place. Released by WikiLeaks, a factor that US intelligence agencies have blamed on Russian hackers, these emails to and from campaign chairman John Podesta have been trickling out for weeks, with mostly embarrassing rather than damaging content.

That changed on Wednesday with the release of a report that appeared to confirm just how much the Clinton family has blurred the boundaries between its business, charitable and political interests. Though almost all of the new information related to Bill rather than Hillary, it gave Trump supporters fresh ammunition at a moment when they were desperate to shift attention from their candidate’s own scandals over taxes and alleged inappropriate behaviour towards women.
In an election that many pollsters describe as an unpopularity contest, it does not take much to swing the mood of independent voters. By Friday, the combination of no news from Trump and bad news from Clinton had halved her average lead in the polls since the last presidential debate.
“When the attention was on Trump, Clinton was winning. Now, the attention is on Clinton,” said political consultant Frank Luntz, who has predicted the winner in 2016 will be the campaign that keeps the focus on its opponent.
Sunday’s average lead for Clinton in national polls of 3.4% ought still to be a healthy safety margin. Bill Clinton’s lead over George Bush shrank from 11 points to just three in the last two weeks of the 1992 election, yet he won by nearly double that margin.

But among Democrats, a cause for concern – if not yet panic – is that very few polls published so far were carried out after news broke about the FBI and the emails.
One reputable survey that got close, an ABC News-Washington Post tracking poll released on Sunday, showed just a one-point overall lead for Clinton. It asked some voters on Friday evening what they thought and found the news had mostly hardened existing opinions but could also play a role at the margins.
“About a third of likely voters say they are less likely to support Clinton given FBI director James Comey’s disclosure,” said pollster Gary Langer. “Given other considerations, 63% say it makes no difference.”
Only 7% of Clinton supporters felt it would make any difference, but this rises “much higher among groups already predisposed not to vote for her”, the poll found.

“The potential for a pullback in motivation of Clinton supporters, or further resurgence among Trump’s, may cause concern in the Clinton camp – especially because this dynamic already was under way,” Langer added. “Intention to vote has grown in Trump support groups in the past week as the intensity of criticisms about him has ebbed.”
The notion that the FBI may not change any minds but will bolster opinion, and thus perhaps turnout, was also supported in a poll of voters in 13 battleground states. This CBS poll showed just 5% of Democrats said the issue might make them less likely to support Clinton, compared with more than a quarter of registered Republicans.

This risk also helps explain the ferocity of Democratic calls for the FBI to urgently exonerate Clinton.
Many loyalists are convinced the latest trove of emails, discovered on equipment shared by Clinton aide Huma Abedin and her estranged husband Anthony Weiner, are an irrelevance.
Even if some show more classified information passed its way through the private server, it should not change the FBI’s earlier decision that a criminal charge would be unfair without evidence of intent or coverup.
But so long as this is not categorically established, there may be a nagging doubt in some minds that the FBI suspects otherwise. Not everyone will be prepared to give Clinton the benefit of the doubt. Some studies have shown just 11% of voters describe Clinton as “honest and trustworthy”, lower even than Trump’s score of 16%.
While it may not be enough to the tip the balance, running for president while facing potential criminal investigation is never a good look.
