Tuesday's issue will include the first episode of investigative reporting series on U.S. sanctions, economic embargos and their direct effects on the Sudanese citizen in points the most important of which are: "Death- Health- Education- Wars- the Consumer- Transport…..)
All the above constitute in my opinion a violation of the Human Rights because of those U.S. sanctions and economic embargos for they denied some citizens of education, medical treatment and travel and the most devastating are death, poverty and so forth… Follow us next Tuesday when we publish the facts.
    The US sanctions
    Introduction: -
Sudan depend for food on its natural resources, which are blessing of Allah The Almighty so it has vast fertile agricultural land, which renders it capable to produce for domestic consumption and for the purposes of exports, for example the beans grown in the Northern State is considered one of the stable diets of the Sudanese people and the wheat, which is also cultivated in the Northern States enters in making bread and local dishes like 'gurassa' which forms the staple food of a large sector of the Sudanese people and many other Sudanese meals in addition to 'al-balah' or dates, which is the main cash crop of the citizens in North Sudan, and sesame and ground nuts which are used for producing cooking oil.
Most of the projects producing many of those crops are managed in two ways; the first is the traditional civil way i.e. the people of the producing area and the second is by companies that operate in the agricultural field which used to be in the near past Sudanese companies until the entry of Saudi Arabian, Turkish and Emirati (from the United Arab Emirates (UAE)) and other Arab countries' investments. The yield to the state from these projects is only the collection of legal fees such as taxes, Zakat and services fees, which are reasonable sums of money compared to volume of production to go to the direct development such as education, health, roads andconsumption and for the purposes of exports, for example the beans grown in the Northern State is considered one of the stable diets of the Sudanese people and the wheat, which is also cultivated in the Northern States enters in making bread and local dishes like 'gurassa' which forms the staple food of a large sector of the Sudanese people and many other Sudanese meals in addition to 'al-balah' or dates, which is the main cash crop of the citizens in North Sudan, and sesame and ground nuts which are used for producing cooking oil.
The yield to the state from these projects is only the collection of legal fees such as taxes, Zakat and services fees, which are reasonable sums of money compared to volume of production to go to the direct development such as education, health, roads and bridges, and otherwise development projects, therefore the decision of the United States of America (USA) to impose economic sanctions on the country does not affect the government, but it directly hits the Sudanese citizens as the owners of such major projects.
    The Needs of Vital Projects
Those projects need production inputs like the machineries for plowing the farms land and prepare the soil for agriculture and plantation and the harvesters and soil machines besides they also need insecticides and pesticides to fight pests and insects and enhance the soil and so on and all that we sometimes need to import for the development of those projects owned by the citizens, whether an individual or company, to produce food to for the citizens to eat and to export so the yield is used in the development of the abovementioned services. In addition to fetching foreign currency which the citizen returns to import some production inputs complementary to the local production inputs, but the U.S. sanctions have been a major cause of increasing their prices for manifolds of what they used to be before the sanction because of the high rate of exchange of the U.S. dollar coupled with the shortage of necessary spare parts.
    Projects Create Job Opportunities:
The Sudanese families work in those projects starting from the head of the family, the father, the mother, in a practice inherited from grandfathers and runs from generation to generation since a long time ago to generate income to sustain their children to eat and drink, get medical treatment and education until they reach the verge of maturity to also work in the same projects as inheritance and loyalty to those projects as their own properties that are providing livelihood so they work in them rather than leaving them to others, although the vast majority of them has no other place to go not to mention the nature of inheritance enjoyed by all the people of Sudan.
The Negative Impacts of those Sanctions:
The U.S. sanctions and penalties, also imposed by allies and others for fear of U.S. backlash have a lot of negative effects not to the concern of the Sudanese government alone, but more adversely the Sudanese citizens who are directly hit by those sanctions with immediate and direct impact on, for example, their food and medicines to mention a few which are some of the most important things in our lives and without them people
cannot live, but those sanctions however stand like a firewall repelling the citizens so if they can produce to meet the demands of the local market they cannot produce for export besides they need spare parts for the maintenance of their machines which if available they are unaffordable for the too high prices which compel them to sell the produce for many times the price to fellow citizens too so the sanctions fall directly on the ######### of the citizens.
    The Editor: -
I think those U.S. sanctions and embargos on Sudan fell directly on the head of the citizen and constitute psychological and moral warfare. The United States (U.S.) believes that those sanctions can put pressure on the Sudanese government to settle the pending files, if any so the U.S. must review those wrong decisions and lift those sanctions which represent a violation of the human rights, which the United States of America (USA) ostensibly advocates.

US sanctions against Sudan paid for by the citizens
In previous columns, I talked about the U.S. sanctions and economic embargos against Sudan and the negative impacts on the country and the citizens of great Sudanese citizen as a result of these sanctions and measures. In our speech we cited real evidences that followed the United States of America announcement of the economic embargo against Sudan, which is a declared battle. What so many people do not know that the U.S. is waging subtle battles of direct negative impacts on the Sudanese citizens, to the forefront of it is the secession of South Sudan, and many likewise upshots. Here I am stuck with surprise since the United States of American advocates the human rights, but when you look carefully America to what the U.S. is doing and highlight its policies you will find it the number one country worldwide in human rights violation. Sudanese Businessman, Essam El-Sheikh launched an initiative to mend the Sudanese-U.S. relations in the presence of Mr. Jerry P. Lanier, the American Charge D'Affaires in Sudan and the leaders of the civil administrations and sheikhs of Sufi sects calling for putting an end to the U.S. economic embargo against the Sudan and remove its name from the list of state sponsors of terrorism and settling the International Criminal Court (ICC) file.
For his part, the U.S. Chargé D'Affaires acknowledged that there are no terrorists amid the sectors of the Sudanese society and cited the ongoing wars in Sudan and the killing and displacement of the civilians as the cause of the tension in the relations between the two countries and called for the resumption of the national dialogue and negotiations with the armed movements and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement Northern Sector (SPLM-NS) in Addis Ababa. Here he acknowledged that there is no terrorism in but he conditioned ending the wars and the resumption of dialogue, saying thence the U.S. sanctions and policies against Sudan can be lifted.
I think that the initiative made by brother Essam El-Sheikh is distinguished and emanates from true patriotism and sharing common concerns with the state and the Sudanese citizens. It reflects the genuine Sudanese traditions as whenever the beloved homeland calls its thoroughbred sons and daughters responded without hesitation, and if we search we will not find such mores anywhere else, but only in the indigenous Sudanese society.
Returning back to the subject of the article I think that the aforesaid initiative did not address the negative aftermaths caused by the U.S. sanctions and economic embargo, but it rather focused on the demands to lift the sanctions, and otherwise, and I wished I was present to recount what I wrote in the previous articles as what I have in mind is unbearably atrocious. Those sanctions have displaced and torn apart many Sudanese families and if probe their impacts we will see them clearly in the Sudanese Street affecting the ordinary citizens and are crystal clear in any Sudanese family in what we call “the actual violation of the human rights” thus this should be communicated to U.S. Charge D'Affaires in Khartoum as a message addressed from the people of the Sudan to the United
States of America besides citing the government's negotiations with the rebel armed movements and with whenever home club responded to his children, and without hesitation so America should know that it was playing the role of the scenarist in them and its now playing the role of programs producer with its continuous support to those armed movements residing in Ethiopia and elsewhere and is ignoring the indigenous western Sudan man to direct a soap series to play on its screen and here I mean the International criminal Court, the International Criminal Court (ICC).
I think that what I called for in this space before must be immediately initiated and prepared, which is the collection of all the negative impacts, violations and the accompanying conditions in the country as a result of those U.S. sanctions and policies by forming a team from the media, the citizen and the state to show the Arab, African and Western worlds these atrocities and strongly demand the lifting of those sanctions and embargoes imposed on Sudan and harvested by the ordinary Sudanese citizens.
