    Hi all,
    I have a book which is a corner stone for anybody who intends to write on this field it is a PDF file but I don't know how to appload it here.
    It is by :-
    Stephen Krashen in which he constitutes his second language acquisition theory. and argues to back his own findings.
    in addition I have many researches on fossilization on PDF files as well as acculturation and language and identity.
    please contact Tariq Omar if u don't have membership on SOL to send any of these files.

    يبدو ان المنبر سيحقق اهدفه البحثية على اكمل وجه. الشواهد و المؤشرات تنبئ بوجود ادبيات بحثية كبيرة في اللغات و اللغويات و الترجمة.
    كلنا هنا طلاب علم و سنفيد من بعضنا البعض، لدينا قواعد بيانات كبيرة متمثلة في المكتبة الرقمية السعودية، ساحاول جاهدا الاسهام ببعض

    CALL FOR PAPERS

    Welcome to the website of the International Conference on Languages, Linguistics and Society (ICLALIS 2013) in Malaysia. This conference is organised by the Centre for the Promotion of Knowledge and Language Learning, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), and will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia from 22 to 24 October, 2013.


    Introduction

    Language plays a broad range of essential roles in society and institutions with diverse needs, aspirations, cultures, traditions, and practices while linguistics offers numerous approaches to the study of how communities, groups and individuals interact or communicate with one another. To promote the importance of language learning, facilitate our understanding of languages, and broaden our knowledge of linguistics, we are organising the International Conference on Languages, Linguistics and Society in Sabah, Malaysia, which is well known for its multi-ethnic and multi-cultural identity.

    The upcoming conference will look into various issues of both global and local concerns especially in relation to the use and learning of different languages. This conference covers topics pertaining to applied linguistics and theoretical linguistics in various institutional, social, and cultural contexts. The conference also welcomes presentations based on studies conducted from inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary perspectives, involving research into language/s in different academic disciplines. We hope to provide an interesting platform for researchers, academics, instructors, language practitioners, policy makers, postgraduate candidates, and members of the public to share knowledge and engage in meaningful interactions.


    Objectives

    We aim to (i) investigate, discuss, and exchange ideas related to the learning and/or use of language in institutional, social and/or cultural settings, (ii) explore the benefits of cross-disciplinary studies involving linguistics, and (iii) examine the theoretical and/or practical implications of new ideas, perspectives, theories, and recommendations concerning different approaches to language teaching and/or language analysis.


    Theme and Sub-themes

    The ICLALIS 2013 invites proposals (abstracts) for papers based on the main theme "The Developing Roles of Language in a Multi-faceted Society”. The proposals submitted to this conference should preferably be related to (but not limited to) the subthemes or topic areas listed below:

    CONFERENCE THEME: "The Impact of Innovation: Technology and You"

    Technology is all around us. Long gone are the days when we could just walk into a classroom with a handful of papers and a piece of chalk. Even if we are in an environment that is lacking resources, our students with mobile phones, internet café, and social networking, are exposed to technology daily. And new uses of technology are being introduced daily. These new uses show how innovation and creativity go hand-in-hand. We invite language educators, administrators, policy makers, and others to join us at ECTC 2013 as we examine technology’s impact upon our classrooms, share what innovations we are currently implementing, and look to the future imagining the role technology will play in education.

    ECTC 2013 will attract a diverse group of teachers, researchers, practitioners and scholars who are engaged in the singular goal of meeting students' educational needs, as students can learn about crucial issues and become familiar with web-based learning and other information technology tools. The use of technology in the classroom represents a significant departure from traditional teaching methods, conducting research, assessing student performance and assurance of learning. Moreover, it creates a user friendly and economically viable environment conducive to learning in any corner in the world where access to technology exists.

Past keynote speakers include presentation guru, Garr Reynolds, and Virginia Tech Professor Barbara Lockee (both pictured right).

    Globalisation and intercultural communication are the two important phenomena that characterize contemporary society and labour market. Consequently, good command of foreign languages has become an essential competence of professionals from all walks of life. In response to the ever increasing need for good foreign language skills, researchers and practitioners constantly strive to enhance the teaching and learning process as well as adapt it to the current needs and trends.


    Logistics being intrinsically global in its nature, The Faculty of Logistics at the University of Maribor with the support of domestic and foreign researchers and practitioners strives to foster the exchange and dissemination of expertise and good practice in foreign language teaching and learning. To this end we are organising the 6th International Language Conference on the Importance of Learning Professional Foreign Languages for Communication between Cultures, which will take place at the Faculty of Logistics in Celje from 19 to 20 September 2013.

    Practitioners, researchers and postgraduate students interested in joining the discussion on current and emerging trends in foreign language teaching and learning are welcome to submit proposals for papers or workshops or join the conference as a listener.

    Relevant themes and topics may include but are not limited to:

    - the role of languages for specific purposes in the 21st century,
    - modern methods/approaches used in teaching LSP,

    - developing language skills in an LSP course,
    - preparation of materials for LSP teaching,

    - intercultural dimension of teaching and learning in an LSP course,

    - multilingualism and LSP.

    Abstract submission

    Those interested in presenting a paper or offering a workshop at the conference are invited to submit an abstract in English or German of 250-300 words. Please use the attached form and send it to [email protected] by no later than 26 May 2013 (please note that any abstracts received after this date will be put on a reserve list); the file name should be first author’s surname. Please include names, affiliations and contact details of all authors. Abstracts will be reviewed and selected by the professional committee of the conference. Authors will be notified of acceptance by 20 June 2013.

    Papers

    The conference papers of a minimum 1,500 words should be e-mailed to [email protected] by 31 August 2013 (papers can be written in English or German). Please note that papers will not be accepted unless speaker(s) have registered for the conference.

    Presentation

    Paper presentations (in English or German) at the conference should be no more than 20 minutes in length with 5 minutes for questions or a short discussion. Workshops (in English or German) should last 25 or 45 minutes.

    Expressions of interest are sought from educators engaged at all levels of the profession (KG through to the tertiary sector) to contribute to a book about the impact and overall effects of online learning, educational technologies, and digital and mobile learning, are having on teaching and learning today. From KG through to the tertiary sector change is being driven by a perceived urgent need to embrace technologies, often at any cost and without a solid foundation in educational research to support the technologies used, and without any kind of critical appraisal or understanding on how technology is affecting the social and cognitive processes of the children and youth engaged with formal educational programs.
    The book will cover a cross section of the educational spectrum and will have a core focus on pedagogy in correlation with technology, curriculum development, and assessment and student success. It is not a book about the ‘wow’ factor of technologies, but a collection of chapters by educators in the field who are at the forefront of dealing with the implementation and imposition of technologies on and into their profession. Theoretical or research based chapters are welcomed. The book will be published through a major UK and worldwide educational publishing house.     Indonesian Journal of Applied Linguistics (IJAL) is a publication of the Language Center of Indonesia University of Education. It is published twice a year in July and January. It is an internationally peer reviewed journal with ISSN: 2301-9468.

    THE DEADLINE OF MANUSCRIPTS SUBMISSION IS 27 March 2013. The manuscript should be at least 5000 words to be considered for reviews.

    We do not charge any cost for the published manuscripts. Every contributor will get two free copies of the journal. The online version of IJAL including its style format, citation and referencing can be viewed through: http://ejournal.upi.edu/index.php/IJAL/issue/current. For your quick reference, enclosed is an example of the paper that has been published in IJAL.

    The manuscripts that you sent will be blind-reviewed and if accepted will appear in IJAL Vol. 3, July 2013.

    the call for articles for a volume tentatively titled: Students as

    Articles should focus on any of the following topics:

    Please include at least three additional resources (print or
    electronic) related to the topic of your chapter, five discussion
    questions on your chapter content as well as a short extension
    activity related to your chapter.

    If you have an idea for an article and it is not listed above, please
    feel free to propose it.

    The deadline for submissions is 1st May 2013. Please send your

    Please follow the specifications outlined below:

    o Articles should be between 3000-4000 words and written in language
    targeted for an IELTS band 6 to 7.
    o Articles should be typed using Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1
    ½ line spacing
    o If you include Tables and/or Figures, make sure they are no wider
    than 12 cms
    o Do not use color in Tables or Figures.
    o Do not use footnotes.
    o Only use "portrait" orientation (i.e. don't insert any pages in
    "landscape" orientation).
    o Remove all hyperlinks in the text.
    o Include a complete list of references using APA style as outlined in
    the Publications Manual of the American Psychological Association, 5th
    edition (2001).
    o Send articles electronically as a Word attachment.
