الخبر نشر أولا كإشتباه بالإيبولا http://www.the-star.co.ke/news/article-193575/scare-jkia-after-passenger-ebola-symptoms-dieshttp://www.the-star.co.ke/news/article-193575/scare-jkia-aft...-ebola-symptoms-dieshttp://www.the-star.co.ke/news/article-193575/scare-jkia-aft...-ebola-symptoms-dies http://www.the-star.co.ke/neehttp://www.the-star.co.ke/neehttp://www.the-star.co.ke/neehttp://www.the-star.co.ke/nee Kenyan health officials wait for passengers to screen them as they arrive at the Jommo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on August 14, 2014 in Nairobi. Photo/File The Kenyan woman who died at JKIA on Saturday night has tested negative for Ebola and Marburg virus.
Health officials says she died of gynacological problem afte she bled through her private parts.
The Director of Medical Services Dr Ncholas Muraguri said Medical examination conducted on her blood samples at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention laboratories however, turned negative.
According to a source at JKIA health centre, the female passenger on board Kenya Airways flight KQ 355 alighted at 6.45pm with high fever and was bleeding.
Sources says the patient, a Kenyan lady from Gatandu, was taken to the Port Health centre where she died at around 8pm on Saturday.
Speaking at the airport Sunday, Health CS James Macharia said the woman complained that she was feeling dizzy and started bleeding profusely minutes after she arrived.
“She was quickly quarantined at the screening center in critical condition until all tests were done. Doctor attempted to resuscitate her but she unfortunately passed on at 8pm,” he said.
Sources at the airport says health officials and airport staff deserted the terminal for hours after the death of the passenger.
The negative test means Kenya, which has been ranked as a high Ebola outbreak risk country by World Health Organisation, can breath a sigh of relief.
The deadly Ebola virus has so far claimed 4,000 lives in West Africa, while Marburg virus has already claimed a life in Uganda. - See more at: http://www.the-star.co.ke/news/article-193576/kenyan-woman-who-died-jkia-tests-negative-ebola#sthash.l8dwfYCZ.dpufhttp://www.the-star.co.ke/news/article-193576/kenyan-woman-w...sthash.l8dwfYCZ.dpufhttp://www.the-star.co.ke/news/article-193576/kenyan-woman-w...sthash.l8dwfYCZ.dpuf

Quote: In Summary The passenger, a Kenyan, had travelled from Nairobi to Uganda and later to Juba where she fell ill. Her condition deteriorated and she was flown to Nairobi for specialised treatment. She was on a Fly540 flight number 5H-744. As soon as the passenger died, Mr Macharia joined a team of senior health officials who conducted tests for both Marburg and Ebola, which are clinically similar. Ebola has so far claimed more than 3,000 lives in West Africa. One patient has also died in the US and another in Spain. |
