    Import regulations::



    From age 17, free import of tobacco products, being 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 grammes of tobacco, and alcoholic beverages, being 2 litres up to 15 % volume and 1 litre over 15 % volume. For quantities imported in excess of this allowance a tax of CHF 4,60 applies per 0.1 litre. Subject to payment of import duty: maximum allowance of wine: 20 litres. For wine in excess of above limits very high import duties apply. No duty free quantities for crews.

    Personal effects (such as clothing, underwear, toilet articles, sports gear, 2 cameras and 2 amateur cine cameras, a normal quantity of film material for the respective cameras, musical instruments and other articles of general use required during a sojourn or a trip). Only used personal effects are duty exempt. Goods without distinct traces of use may be subject to import duty (the amount paid is refunded upon re-export if import document is presented).

    Gifts (incl. perfume) for residents of Switzerland, provided absent abroad at least 24 hours, can import up to CHF 200.- (For children under 17: CHF 100.-) Only for own use, as souvenir or as gift for third person. Excluded are foodstuffs/goods intended for stocking up. Simultaneously imported parts/pieces of a whole (e.g. of a dish) are considered as one object. Objects exceeding the value of CHF 300.- are taxable in their entirety (even if imported in common by more than one person). Other passengers are assigned a limit of CHF 100.- Not for own use, only as gift for third person. (For children under 17 years: CHF 50.-).

    Goods not included in free list as above (but excl. of categories tobacco products and alcohol beverages and goods for stocking) for own use only: up to CHF 50.-.

    Food from EU Member States is permitted, provided for personal comsumption;
    Food from non-EU Member States: it is forbidden to bring in any meat, eggs, milk, honey or other products of animal origin.


    Arms and Ammunition regulations::



    Firearms:
    firearms (up to 2 for hunting and up to 2 for sporting) may be imported without a permit if the passenger satisfactorily proves that they will be used in a sport contest or a hunting event.
    Ammunitions:
    if in circumstances as described above, the following ammunitions can be accepted:
    - 50 cartridges (for hunting);
    - 250 cartridges (per handgun);
    - 250 cartridges (per rifled sporting gun);
    - 500 cartridges (per smooth bore sporting gun).
    NOTE: if not complying with the above, authorization from regional police departments must be obtained in advance.

    Wild Fauna and Flora::

    Additional Information on regulations::

    From all countries are prohibited the following: absinth and its imitations, anaesthetics.

    Export regulations::

    Free export without restrictions, except that cheese in excess of 15 kgs., gold and number of watches have to be declared.

    Pets::

    CATS AND DOGS: are subject to special regulations (ES) No. 998/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council .
    Import from the EU does not require an animal health permit. An animal health permit is required when entering from a rabies risk country, via a Swiss airport.
    All dogs and cats must be correctly identified with either a microchip (tattoos are still acceptable until June 30, 2011).

    Please note that it is prohibited to import dogs with docked ears and/or cropped tail, exempt are those with owners who live abroad and are coming for holidays or short stays or those relocating to Switzerland.
    BIRDS: please consult the SWISS FEDERAL VETERINARY OFFICE (SFVO) website www.bvet.admin.ch for detailed information on the import of birds.

    Baggage Clearance regulations::

    Baggage is cleared at the airport of final destination in Switzerland.

    Exempt: baggage of transit passengers with a destination outside of Switzerland and baggage of passengers who embarked in an EU Member State .
