JHR Film Night Presents: Benjamin and His Brother Please join JHR on Thursday October 21st for a JHR Film Night presentation of 'Benjamin and His Brother', an award winning film about child soldiers in Sudan. After the film there will be a Q & A session with a panel of Sudanese human rights experts. All proceeds will go to JHR and efforts to end genocide in the Darfur region. Film: Decades of war and ethnic conflict in the Sudan have created a generation of young men, known as the "lost boys," who have spent more years in refugee camps than in their home communities. Benjamin and His Brother (by filmmaker Arthur Howes) is an intimate portrait of Benjamin and William Deng, brothers joined in the struggle of a seemingly never-ending exile, who are then separated when one is accepted into a United States resettlement program while the other remains in a Kenyan refugee camp. Place: Thursday October 21st at the Innis College Town Hall Theatre. The University of Toronto's Innis College Town Hall Theatre is located at St. George & Sussex (one block south of Bloor & St. George), near the St. George Subway station. Time: Doors open at 6:30 pm; show starts at 7:00 pm. Cost: A minimum donation of $10 is appreciated. Party Afterwards: Joins us after the film at the Bedford Academy (top floor)! (On Prince Arthur, just East of Bedford). Cover is $5. All Proceeds go to Journalists for Human Rights (JHR), a Canadian charity dedicated to building the capacity of African journalists to report on human rights issues and efforts to end the genocide in Darfur. More Movie Nights: We hold a JHR Human Rights Film Night approximately every 2 months. Keep your eye out for more information.
