Monday, 12 May 2008 Conflicting reports surfaced on the fate of the Justice and Equality Movement leader Dr. Khalil Ibrahim following the attacks launched by his troops on Omdurman last Saturday, as some news reports indicated that Khalil Ibradim has been arrested. There was no official confirmation of these reports. On the other hand, Jibril Ibrahim, brother and assistant of the JEM leader disclosed to Miraya FM that Khalil is in a safe place, and that he can move and speak to the media freely.
Miraya FM’s Muhammed Khalil spoke to Jibril Ibrahim and asked him about his brother’s fate. Meanwhile, Miraya FM’s reporter said that clashes in the city of Omdurman have renewed. He added that the government security forces are chasing JEM forces who are on loose in the suburbs of the city. In Khartoum, the security forces have arrested a person suspected of belonging to the Justice and Equality Movement after launching a raid against a building in the center of the city. The incident caused a state of panic amid citizens.
