ندوة قوى الإجماع الوطني .. إسقاط النظام هو الخيار

مضت قوى الإجماع الوطنيي السوداني خطوات في طريق تنفيذ ما توافقت عليه من ترجيح خيار التحرك بإتجاه إسقاط النظام الحاكم في الخرطوم عن طريق الثورة الشعبية. أعلن ذلك عدد من قادة الأحزاب السودانية المعارضة الذين خاطبوا ندوة سياسية حاشدة مساء أمس بدار المؤتمر الشعبي بالمنشية.
وقال الأستاذ محمد إبراهيم نقد السكرتير العام للحزب الشيوعي السوداني الذي قوبل بهتافات حماسية صاخبة من قبل الجمهور: "يجب أن تستغل هذه الحماسة وتسخر في النزول إلى الشارع وتحريك الشعب من أجل تحقيق الثورة المرجوة"
وقلل نقد من أهمية إعتقال الترابي ذاكراً أنه رافق الترابي في عدد من المعتقلات فوجد أنه شخص يصعب حصره وحبسه إذ سرعان ما يحول ذلك إلى جو صالح للإنتاج والعطاء في مختلف المجالات، وأستدرك نقد: "لقد كان من المفيد أن يكون بيننا فنحن نحتاجه في أعمال كثيرة ولكن غيابه لن يكون النهاية."
وشدد سكرتير الحزب الشيوعي في حديثه بدار الشعبي أمس على ضرورة مواصلة العمل مع الجنوب في كل الأحوال من أجل الوصول إلى صيغ من التفاهمات ربما أدت يوماً ما إلى اجتماع شقي البلاد في وحدة جديدة إقتداءً بما تم في اليمن وألمانيا مستفيدين من تجارب تلك الدول التي انقسمت ثم عادت فتوحدت من جديد.
وأعرب نقد عن حزنه لما آلت إليه الأوضاع في دارفور ذاكراً "ان أهل دارفور هم أصحاب ممالك وسلطنات من قبل أن يكون في الخرطوم حكم ومركز فلا ينبغي ان يظلوا مشردين بالنزوح ولاجئين بالمعسكرات يتلقون المعونة والغوث من الأجانب مشدداً على عدالة مطالب أهل دارفور، وأستهجن نقد كثرة الإتفاقيات وتعددها والحالة التي آل إليها السودان في ظل الإنقاذ.
أما السيدة سارة نقد الله ممثلة حزب الأمة القومي فقد أكدت إلتزام حزبها بموقف قوى الإجماع الوطني داعية إلى استمرار الحوار على كافة الأصعدة واتصاله مع الحزب الحاكم من أجل الوصل إلى صيغة من التفاهم ترضي جميع الأطراف.
من جانبه نفى علي السيد المحامي ممثل الحزب الإتحادي الديمقراطي الأصل الحديث عن أي إتفاق بين حزبه والمؤتمر الوطني الحاكم في الخرطوم، مؤكداً انهم مع خيار إسقاط النظام قائلاً: "يجب ألا يصدق الناس أن هناك إتفاق معنا أو إتفاق مع الأمة أو حوار هنا وحوار هناك هذه محض أكاذيب فنحن مع الشعب ونحن مع خيار إسقاط النظام" وفسر السيد إعتقال الشيخ الترابي على أنه إنذار لبقية الاحزاب: "إعتقال الترابي يعني على البقية في الأحزاب الأستعداد، لذا فالأن علينا أن نتفق على إزالة النظام وبالطرق السلمية وإذا لم تنجح فستكون هناك طرق أخرى نعرفها.." وهو ذات الأمر الذي أكده بروفيسور محمد يعقوب شداد ممثل الحزب الديقراطي (الهيئات) الذي قال في كلمة مقتضبة: "إن نظام الإنقاذ هو العامل المشترك في جميع الأزمات ولن تحل أزمة السودان إلا بذهاب وزوال الإنقاذ."
من جانبه حذر الشيخ ابراهيم السنوسي القيادي بالمؤتمر الشعبي الحكومة من الحديث عن الإغتيالات السياسية، وفي إشارة إلى حديث الدكتور نافع علي نافع نائب رئيس المؤتمر الوطني عن مخططات المعارضة لتنفيذ إغتيالات سياسية قال السنوسي بأن الجهة الوحيدة التي ادخلت ادب الإغتيالات على السياسة السودانية هي عناصر في حزب المؤتمر الوطني، مجددا الإتهام للدكتور نافع بانه وعلي عثمان طه نائب الرئيس السوداني ضالعين في التخطيط لإغتيال الرئيس المصري حسني مبارك في أديس أباب العام 1995، وقال السنوسي بان نافع لم يغشى صفوف العمل المعارض أبان عمل الجبهة الوطنية لمعارضة نظام الرئيس السابق جعفر النميري، لذلك يقلل من مقدرات العمل المعارض الآن.
وكان عدد من جمهور الندوة قد خرجوا عقب اللقاء في مسيرة قاصدين منزل الدكتور الترابي إلا أن الشرطة تصدت للمسيرة وأطلقت الغاز المسيل للدموع وفرقتها قبل أن تصل وجهتها، ولم ترد إفادات عن وقوع إعتقالات أو أصابات بين المتظاهرين.
ورجح مراقبون ان يؤدي تصاعد عمل المعارضة السودانية إلى مواجهات بينها والنظام السوداني الذي توعد قادته بالتضييق على العمل المعارض الذي يستهدف إسقاط الحكومة، ولم يستبعد صحفيون وناشطون سياسيون أن تتوسع دائرة الإعتقالات التي بدأت أول من أمس باعتقال الدكتور الترابي وعدد من قيادات وناشطي حزبه لتشمل عدد من قيادات العمل المعارض .

الترابي ليس بالسذاجة التي يتصورها النظام
الخرطوم ـ أسماء الحسيني وعبدالواحد لبيني:
قال الدكتور نافع علي نافع, مساعد الرئيس السوداني, إن الدكتور حسن الترابي رئيس المؤتمر الشعبي, كان يخطط لاغتيالات ويسعي لفتنة لتحريك الشارع والإخلال بالأمن, وأضاف في تصريحات صحفية أن المعارضة لم تكن ذكية بإعلان اعتزامها اسقاط البشير بأي وسيلة, وأوضح أن تقديم الترابي لمحاكمة أمر تقدره الجهات المعنية.
وفي غضون ذلك, رفض حزب المؤتمر الشعبي المعارض, المبررات التي ساقتها السلطات الأمنية لاعتقال أمينه العام, وتسعة من قياداته في وقت متأخر من مساء الاثنين الماضي, نافيا وجود أي علاقة له بحركة العدل والمساواة المتمردة في دارفور. وقال عبدالله حسن أحمد, نائب الأمين العام للحزب في مؤتمر صحفي: إن الترابي ليس بالسذاجة التي تعتقدها السلطات السودانية حتي يخطط مع حركة العدل والمساواة ويترك وثائقه بيدها تتجول بها في الغابة. وربط بين اعتقال الترابي والموقف المعلن لحزبه تجاه الظلم القائم حاليا ومناداته مع قوي الاجماع الوطني بضرورة تكوين حكومة انتقالية لتعديل الدستور وتهيئة المناخ لانتخابات حرة ونزيهة في البلاد.
وقال الحزب, في بيان أمس, إن اعتقال الترابي يهدف لشق صف المعارضة بعد أن توحدت في صف واحد لمواجهة الحزب الحاكم.
ومن جانبها, أعلنت قوي المعارضة أنها ستستمر في ذات خطها المعارض للنظام ولن يرهبها اعتقال الترابي.
بينما اعتبرت حركة العدل والمساواة الحديث عن علاقة حزب المؤتمر الشعبي, وزعيمه الدكتور حسن الترابي بحركة العدل محض افتراء وأكاذيب. ووصف الناطق الرسمي للحزب الاتحادي الديمقراطي الأصل حاتم السر اعتقال أجهزة الأمن السودانية زعيم حزب المؤتمر الشعبي وعددا من قياداته بأنها خطوة لقمع الأصوات المعارضة وانتهاك صارخ لحرية النشاط الحزبي.

Sudanese police fired tear gas last night in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, to disperse a demonstration against the Jan. 18 arrest of Islamist opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi.
Turabi’s arrest along with 11 other members of his Popular Congress Party came after an opposition alliance, known as the National Consensus Forces, said it was planning street protests such as the ones in Tunisia which forced President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to flee the North African country Jan. 14.
“They prevented the protesters from reaching al-Turabi’s house,” Kamal Omar, political secretary for the party, said in a telephone interview from Khartoum.
Authorities arrested al-Turabi because he was planning assassinations to destabilize the African country and topple its government, state-run SUNA news agency reported Jan. 18 citing top presidential aide Nafie Ali Nafie.
Mohamed al-Hafez, the police chief in the city, did not answer calls to his mobile phone seeking comment and police spokesman Hashem Ali’s mobile phone was switched off.
The coalition called for street protests Jan. 16 over planned austerity measures, including the partial lifting of fuel subsidies and an increase in the price of sugar. The government says the measures are necessary to cope with the likely secession of the oil-rich south following a referendum on independence last week.
Yesterday was the start of street protests by the opposition coalition, which comprises parties including the Popular Congress Party, the Communist Party and Umma party.
National Conference
Ben Ali became the first Arab leader to be forced out by popular unrest since 1985, when demonstrations in Sudan led to a coup that ousted President Gaafar al-Nimeiri. Sudan’s current President Umar al-Bashir came to power in another coup in 1989.
The opposition reiterated today it wanted a national conference, including al-Bashir’s National Congress Party, to write a new constitution for “the new state in the north” and also a transitional government to prepare for fresh elections.
Al-Bashir won a five-year term in Sudan’s first multiparty election in 24 years in April, gaining 68 percent of the vote. Observers from the Atlanta-based Carter Center and the European Union said the elections failed to meet international standards.
The coalition’s demands were previously rejected by al- Bashir, who invited the opposition parties to join him in a broad-based government.
Street Protests
Al-Turabi’s party first announced its plans for street protests on Jan. 2, blaming al-Bashir’s National Congress Party for the likely secession of the south following last week’s referendum.
A vote for independence will give Southern Sudan control over almost 80 percent of the country’s oil production of 490,000 barrels a day, pumped mainly by China National Petroleum Corp., Malaysia’s Petroliam Nasional Bhd. and India’s Oil & Natural Gas Corp. Sudan’s output is the third-biggest in sub- Saharan Africa.
Al-Turabi, who helped al-Bashir seize power in 1989, broke with the president in 2000 after the latter dismissed him as parliamentary speaker for backing legislation to curb presidential powers.

SUDAN: Fearing protests, government arrests opposition leader

Fearing the kind of unrest that toppled the government of Tunisia, security forces in Sudan on Tuesday arrested leading Islamist opposition leader Hassan Turabi after he threatened a popular revolt over rising prices on food and other goods.
Sudanese authorities accused Turabi, leader of the Popular Congress Party, of supporting the heavily armed Justice and Equality Movement, a rebel group battling government forces in the western region of Darfur. The arrest is another indication of the many pitfalls for President Omar Hassan Ahmed Bashir as he faces widening divisions within Africa’s largest nation.
Bashir’s government is battling inflation and is worried that opposition parties may take to the streets of Khartoum, the capital. Protests have broken out over rising food prices in the farming state of Aljazzera. Turabi’s party denied government accusations that its leader was abetting the Darfur rebels, saying the charges were trumped up to keep Turabi from organizing demonstrations.
"We are making preparations for taking to the street to topple the regime," said Abdullah Hassan Ahmed, undersecretary of the Popular Congress Party. Another party official, Mariam Sadig, said opposition parties had faced years of repression and injustice.
But Mandour Mahadi, a leading ruling-party official, blamed Turabi for “maintaining contact” with a rebel group that had rejected dialogue and "chosen military escalation" in the state of Darfur. The crisis in Darfur is further complicated by the likely breakaway of southern Sudan, which voted in an independence referendum this month.
Opposition parties have often threatened street protests to little effect, but now they say they have a strong reason for rallying people.
"Prices are going up, and people feel that a lot of important commodities are too expensive," Ahmed said. "These issues will bring people into the streets when you call them. There is now reason to go."

Police forces in Sudan have clashed with supporters of the country's prominent opposition leader Hassan al-Torabi in the capital city of Khartoum.
Hundreds of protesters outraged with Torabi's detention took to streets on Wednesday and called on the government to release the leader of the Popular Congress Party (PCP) immediately, Reuters reported
Demonstrators also called for justice as they marched toward the opposition leader's house but were dispersed as police fired tear gas and used baton against the crowd.
Representatives of all the main opposition parties also gathered at Torabi's party headquarters, calling for the formation of a national coalition government to include the opposition in the north of Sudan.
Torabi was arrested along with eight other PCP officials on Tuesday after he warned of a Tunisia-style uprising in the country. He had said that what happened in Tunisia was a reminder and was likely to take place in Sudan, too.
The Sudanese government accuses Torabi of trying to foment unrest and undermining security.
Sudan has been the scene of student protests following a decision by Khartoum to cut the subsidies on petroleum products and key commodity sugar, and a consequent hike in food prices.
Similar demonstrations in the North African state of Tunisia over unemployment and high expenses started a month ago and eventually ended up in the ouster of president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who had ruled the country for 23 years.
Ben Ali's overthrow has raised stability concerns in other countries in the African continent which suffer similar social, economic and political problems.

Sudan's Turabi held after 'Tunisia' revolt warning

KHARTOUM — Sudanese Islamist opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi was arrested at his Khartoum home on Tuesday for fomenting unrest, a to government official said, just hours after he had warned in an AFP interview of a Tunisia-style uprising.
Turabi's detention shortly before 1:00 am (2200 GMT Monday) was part of a wave of arrests against members of his Popular Congress Party, as Sudan stands at a crossroads following a landmark southern independence vote expected to lead to the partition of Africa's largest nation.
President Omar al-Beshir's top aide Nafie Ali Nafie said the 78-year-old opposition leader had been arrested for inciting popular unrest.
"The security services have documented and confirmed evidence that Turabi was trying to provoke popular unrest -- the street uprisings that he has mentioned," Nafie told reporters on Tuesday, adding that anyone else involved in such activities would be arrested.
Turabi number two Abdullah Hassan Ahmed said earlier that nine other party members were arrested on Monday and vowed that the party would take to the streets to change the government, which he accused of rigging general elections last year, stoking inflation and curbing civil liberties.
"We are taking to the streets to confront this regime," Ahmed told a news conference in Khartoum, to cries of "Allahu Akbar" (God is greatest).
"We are giving the (ruling) National Congress Party a choice -- to have a transitional government ... and then to conduct free and fair elections," he said.
"If they don't agree to that, we are going to fight them in the streets. We're not an armed party and we're not going to stage a coup, but we are going to change the regime," he said, adding that a big rally was planned for Wednesday.
In the interview with AFP hours before his arrest, Turabi had said a Tunisia-style revolt, which last week ousted veteran strongman Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, was likely in north Sudan, given the country's economic woes and the looming prospect of independence for the south.
"This country has known popular uprisings before," Turabi said, referring to revolts which toppled military regimes in 1964 and 1985.
"What happened in Tunisia is a reminder. This is likely to happen in Sudan," he said, referring to the month-long deadly protests that prompted Ben Ali to take refuge in Saudi Arabia after 23 years of iron-fisted rule.
"If it doesn't, then there will be a lot of bloodshed."
Turabi had made similarly bold statements earlier this month, as have other opposition leaders, who at a forum on Sunday congratulated the Tunisian people for seeing off Ben Ali and called for the Sudanese president to heed popular demands to share power.
Nafie Ali Nafie rejected the likelihood of a popular uprising in Sudan in a live television interview broadcast late on Monday.
"We in Sudan do not fear a repeat of the Tunisian experience, because we have been through the election process," he said.
He was referring to general elections last April that saw Bashir, who seized power in a bloodless 1989 coup, win a new term in office.
They were the first multi-party polls since the 1986 election of the government that Bashir overthrew but were marred by accusations of fraud and an opposition boycott.
Mariam al-Mahdi, daughter of Sadeq al-Mahdi, the prime minister Bashir ousted, described Sudan's current situation as "critical."
"First the NCP raised the price of goods and then they arrested members of the PCP," said the daughter, who is a senior figure in Mahdi's Umma Party.
The government adopt a raft of austerity measures on January 5 aimed at bolstering the fragile economy, which is burdened by foreign debt and a currency weakened by post-referendum uncertainty.
The PCP's Abdullah Hassan Ahmed said the government had targeted his party, and Turabi in particular, because he was the most active opposition leader.
Turabi was a key figure behind the 1989 coup that brought Bashir to power, but has spent long periods in jail or under house arrest for his outspoken comments since the two men fell out in 1999.

Sudanese security forces have arrested a top opposition leader who suggested the country is ready for a Tunisia-style uprising.
Family members of Hassan al-Turabi say security agents came to his Khartoum home late Monday and took him into custody. At least eight members of Turabi's Popular Congress Party have also been arrested.
In an interview with the French news agency, AFP, this week, Turabi said street protests that led to the ouster of Tunisia's president are likely to erupt in Sudan as well.
Turabi was once a close ally of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir but broke with the president in 1999 and set up his own party.
The government has long accused him of having links to Darfur's leading rebel group, the Justice and Equality Movement.
His arrest comes as Mr. Bashir's government deals with the likely secession of southern Sudan.
Early results show southern voters overwhelmingly chose to separate from the north in a referendum last week.

Sudan arrests opposition leader Turabi, eight others

KHARTOUM (Reuters) - Sudanese security forces on Tuesday arrested opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi and eight other party officials after they called for a "popular revolution" if Khartoum did not reverse price rises.
Turabi's arrest comes at a politically sensitive time for the government of President Omar Hassan al Bashir, who stands to lose control over the oil-producing south which last week voted in an independence referendum.
It also comes as Tunisia grapples with fallout from the ouster of its long-time president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali, who fled the country on Friday after three weeks of violent unrest sparked by social grievances.
Sudan's opposition threatened on Sunday to take to the streets if the government did not remove its finance minister and dismantle parliament over the decision to raise prices on a range of goods.
"This is criminal - how can they arrest a man who is 78 years old and put him in prison? We are scared for him," Turabi's tearful wife Wisal al-Mahdi told Reuters.
Ben Ali's overthrow in Tunisia has reverberated across the Arab world, raising concerns about stability in other countries in the region which share the same mix of social, economic and political problems.
Sudan's price increases have sparked student protests in the country's northern agricultural heartland and Khartoum.
The country is grappling with a current account deficit and a currency devaluation that is driving up inflation.
This month Khartoum cut subsidies on petroleum products and key commodity sugar, prompting protests over the past week, quelled only by baton-wielding police firing teargas.
Islamist leader Turabi has been in and out of jail since his split from Bashir's ruling party in 1999/2000.
Security forces blocked Turabi's road and five police cars full of heavily armed forces escorted him away as his watching family cried "God is Greatest", two witnesses said.
Two party officials told Reuters that nine mid- to high-ranking members of Turabi's Popular Congress Party (PCP) had been taken from their homes in early morning raids.
Khartoum has long feared Turabi's influence, believing many of his supporters still remain in key positions of the army and security services.
The Sudanese Media Centre, a news agency with close links to Sudan's feared intelligence service, said Darfur rebels arrested last week had given new evidence of Turabi's support for them.
Turabi has never denied advising Darfur's insurgents but says he has not armed or supported them. The conflict in Sudan's west erupted in early 2003 with rebels demanding a better share of wealth and power.
The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for President Omar Hassan al-Bashir for war crimes and genocide during a brutal counter-insurgency campaign in the region, charges Bashir denies.
Turabi is usually arrested during times of difficulty for the government, most notably after Darfur rebels launched an unprecedented attack on the capital in 2008.
No charges were brought against him.
His party's newspaper was closed down last year and three staff were jailed in trials condemned by rights groups as unfair.

“The Popular Congress Party is one of the opposition parties standing firm against the government. We were expecting something like this,” she said.
The wave of arrests comes at a politically sensitive time for President Omar Hassan al Bashir, who stands to loose control over the oil producing south, which last week voted in an independence referendum.
The Sudanese Media Centre, with close links to Sudan’s intelligence service, claims fresh evidence has emerged that Turabi “guided and financed” the JEM, a Dafur rebel group fighting government troops.
The JEM described the claim as “total fabrication.”

KHARTOUM, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese security authorities arrested Sudanese opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi late Monday, just one day after his Popular Congress Party called for a popular uprising in protest against recent government decisions of increasing prices of some basic commodities, reported Khartoum's Al Ray Al Am daily Tuesday.
The paper quoted al-Turabi's Secretary Awad Babikir as saying that "Security forces arrested al-Turabi late Monday from his home after clashing with one of his assistances who was also arrested."
Al-Turabi has been arrested many times since his defection from the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) in 1999, the last of which was in 2010 when he was arrested for a month and a half after accusing the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir of forging the April presidential elections.
Sudanese opposition parties on Sunday threatened to organize popular demonstrations if the government has not relieved its finance minister and resolved the National Assembly (parliament) in the wake of its decisions to increase the prices.
The opposition alliance, which brings together 20 parties, issued a statement in which threatened to come down the streets if the government has not dissolved the parliament and relieved the finance minister.
On Monday al-Turabi was reported to have said that "breaking up of a popular uprising in Sudan like the one of Tunisia is likely," adding that in case the uprising failed, there could be bloodshedding as everybody in Sudan was armed.

Sudan’s new folly
19 January 2011 Yet again, there is a disturbing development in Khartoum. The reported arrest of opposition leader Hassan Al Turabi is likely to plunge Sudan in renewed confrontation on the home front. This act was unwarranted as the regime of President Omar Al Bashir was overtly involved in overseeing the referendum in the south, which is literally at the verge of seceding from the republic.
The government’s move apparently in reaction to the octogenarian politician’s remarks that a Tunisia style uprising is in the offing has unnerved the authorities. Their kneejerk reaction to bundle up Turabi and dozens of political activists will only further the ensuing unrest. It is bound to create more administrative and law and order problems and kick-start a strained process that has comparatively been at ease in the restive Darfur and ungovernable regions of the north.
President Bashir, who has exhibited magnanimity in addressing the South Sudan cause, should rise above petty political considerations to resolve the imbroglio right under his nose in the north. Bloodshed and violence for the last two decades has marginalised the republic, and has hardly left behind any political space for reviving hopes. In such an environment, continued persecution of estranged political elements is hardly advisable even for extracting mileage on the political front. The elder politician who has for long been at odds with the president and who reportedly enjoys good ties with a host of militant groups, including the rebel Justice and Equality Movement, can’t be just intimidated and cornered. Turabi has a point when he says that socio-economic unrest coupled with prevailing political disequilibrium has pitched Sudan in a quandary.
The poor African nation could soon be at the verge of disintegration if the expected secession vote in the south gives birth to agitations in the north. The south, at least, had the strength of being monolithic from religious perspective and enjoyed international sympathy. The north, which is widely considered to have become a hotbed of militancy, doesn’t have the potential to survive in case fighting breaks out. Thus there isn’t any alternate to political solution in the north, as well, and it would be an added strength to benefit from Turabi’s input. There is no point in incarcerating him in the wild.

Sudanese authorities have arrested Islamist opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi and nine members of his party, after the opposition said it was planning street protests similar to those in Tunisia.
The opposition National Consensus Forces on Jan. 16 called for street protests over planned austerity measures, including a lifting of fuel subsidies and a sugar price increase. The government says the measures are necessary to cope with the likely secession of the oil-rich south following a referendum on independence last week.
The opposition is looking to Tunisia, where protests over the past month forced President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to flee the country on Jan. 14 after 23 years in power.
The government is “afraid that something similar could happen here,” Wesal al-Mahdi, Turabi’s wife, told Bloomberg on Tuesday from Khartoum, the Sudanese capital. “What happened in Tunisia has scared them.”
Turabi's party called for a "popular revolution" if the Sudanese government did not reverse price increases.
Abdalla Hassan Ahmed, Turabi’s deputy at the Popular Congress Party, which is part of the National Consensus Forces, told reporters in Khartoum that Turabi had been arrested by "an unprecedented number of security forces.”
“We will go to the streets,” though no date has been fixed for the protests, Ahmed said.
Turabi had said an uprising in north Sudan, similar to recent developments in Tunisia, was "likely."
"This country has known popular uprisings before," he said in an interview with Agence France-Presse hours before his arrest. "What happened in Tunisia is a reminder. This is likely to happen in Sudan ... If it doesn't, then there will be a lot of bloodshed. The whole country is armed. In the towns, it will be a popular uprising, but in Darfur, and in Kordofan as well, they have weapons."
Turabi has been in and out of jail since he left President Omar Hassan al-Bashir's ruling party in 1999.

In an interview Sudanese Islamist opposition leader Hassan al Turabi, a one-time key mentor turned bitter opponent of President Omar al-Bashir, warned that if Bashir failed to share power in the face of popular protests, it would lead to bloodshed.
"This country has known popular uprisings before," Turabi said, referring to popular revolts which toppled military regimes in the Arab world's largest country in 1964 and 1985.
"What happened in Tunisia is a reminder. This is likely to happen in Sudan," he said, referring to the month-long deadly protests that prompted veteran Tunisian strongman Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to take refuge in Saudi Arabia after 23 years of iron-fisted rule.
"If it doesn't, there will be a lot of bloodshed. The whole country is armed. These people don't demonstrate, they fight."
Turabi, who is suspected by the government of having links to the most heavily armed of the Darfur rebel factions, the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), said he expected the western region where Khartoum has been fighting an eight-year rebellion would play a role.
"I'm quite sure if there's any uprising here, the Darfur region will be active," he said.
In May 2008, JEM fighters launched an unprecedented march on Khartoum, reaching the capital's twin city of Omdurman just across the Nile from the presidential palace before being repulsed with heavy losses.
Turabi, who was a key figure behind the 1989 coup that brought Bashir to power but has spent long periods in jail or under house arrest for his outspoken comments since the two men fell out in 1999, said the looming breakaway of the south after this month's independence vote was stoking concern in the north.
"The people of Sudan are shocked," he said of the week-long referendum that was the centrepiece of a 2005 peace agreement that ended a devastating 22-year civil war between north and south.
"They are really worried about the disintegration of their country," he said alluding to the civil war in Darfur and a 12-year rebellion in the east which ended with a still-fragile 2006 peace agreement.
"Sudan is not a small country like Tunisia but it is exposed to a risk of chaos worse than Somalia," he said, adding: "The concept of poverty is felt," following the adoption of a stinging austerity package by the government on January 5.
Political uncertainty, skyrocketing food prices and weak state finances have caused a sharp fall in the value of the Sudanese pound. Already saddled with heavy debt, the country has also exhausted its foreign currency reserves and is blighted by inflation.
On Sunday, opposition parties, including Turabi's Popular Congress Party, called a joint news conference to congratulate Tunisians and called for an "end to the totalitarian regime" in Khartoum.
The Islamist leader had told reporters in Qatar earlier this month that Sudanese opposition leaders were working on ways to overthrow Bashir's government peacefully.
"As dialogue with the regime took a long time, and after opposition leaders realised that the elections were hopeless... they have agreed to topple the regime," he said on January 3.

Sudanese opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi was arrested on Monday night after comparing the situation in Sudan with the one in Tunisia. A government official says he was arrested for fomenting unrest.
Several other members of Turabi's Popular Congress Party (PCP) were arrested on Monday, and the PCP has vowed to take to the streets to change the government.
President Omar al-Beshir's top aide Nafie Ali Nafie said the 78-year-old opposition leader had been arrested for inciting popular unrest.

"The security services have documented and confirmed evidence that Turabi was trying to provoke popular unrest -- the street uprisings that he has mentioned," Nafie told reporters on Tuesday, adding that anyone else involved in such activities would be arrested.
According to his daughter Umama al-Turabi, Turabi said that a Tunisia-style uprising was "likely" in Sudan.
“In just days, the regime changed in Tunisia, and he said that it is not far from happening here in Sudan. But he wants it to happen in a peaceful way - without the use of arms, aggression or violence.”
“He’s asking the Sudanese to stand up to this government and change it by peaceful means because the country is a very critical situation.”
Sudan at the moment stands at a crossroads with the south poised to vote for independence in a landmark referendum last week.
Al-Turabi was arrested at his home in Khartoum.

An influential opposition leader in Sudan has been arrested after calling for a Tunisian-style "popular uprising" to topple the long-standing regime of President Omar al-Bashir.
The call by veteran Islamist Hassan al-Turabi highlighted the precariousness of the Bashir government which is beset by a downward spiralling economy and the overwhelming vote by the south of the country to form a new independent nation.

Mr Turabi was the ideological force behind the Islamist coup that brought General Bashir to power in 1989. He has long envisaged the creation of a hardline Islamic state, but the two men fell out in a power struggle a decade later.
They have also been divided by the conflict in Darfur which saw the President indicted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes. Mr Turabi has a strong support base in Darfur and links to one of the main rebel groups there, the Justice and Equality Movement.
There is mounting speculation in Sudan that Mr Bashir's days in power in Khartoum could be numbered. The support base of the ruling National Congress Party has been eroded by the economic woes of a country reeling from international sanctions and sharp increases in the cost of living.
While some opposition figures in the north of Sudan have blamed Mr Bashir for the loss of the south – which appears to have voted to separate in a referendum held last week – it's the sharp rises in the cost of essentials such as bread and fuel that have led to street protests in Khartoum. Austerity measures in the face of foreign currency controls and sudden spikes in the cost of commodities have drawn student protests and demands for the resignation of officials.
The Tunisian president, Ben Ali, was forced into exile on Friday after three weeks of escalating street protests over government corruption, political cronyism, food prices and other social problems. Mr Turabi, who was arrested at night, had sought to tap into a similar vein of discontent in Sudan.
Rather than violent revolution on the streets of Khartoum it has been economic bungling that has tended to lead to regime change in Sudan.
With a host of recent setbacks for Mr Bashir, some observers believe the former general's grip on power may be fatally weakened.
"He already has the asterisk next to his name that he ruined the economy; now he has a second asterisk as the man who lost the south," said one Khartoum diplomat.

الخرطوم (ا ف ب) - فرقت قوات الامن السودانية بالقوة الاربعاء مئات من الناشطين السودانيين تظاهروا مطالبين باطلاق سراح زعيم المعارضة الاسلامي حسن الترابي الذي اعتقل الثلاثاء بعد تصريحات مؤيدة لانتفاضة شعبية.
ونزل حوالى 300 متظاهر الى الشارع مطالبين بالحرية والعدالة وساروا حتى منزل الزعيم الاسلامي.
ولكن قوات الامن تدخلت واطلقت القنابل المسيلة للدموع وانهالت بالضرب على المحتجين بالعصي.
وافاد مراسل وكالة فرانس برس ان مصادمات وقعت لبعض الوقت.
وبدأت التظاهرة في المقر العام لحزب الترابي حيث عقد اجتماع لممثلين عن ابرز حركات المعارضة للمطالبة بتغيير الحكومة السودانية.
وكان الترابي (78 عاما) قد اعتقل الثلاثاء بتهمة التحريض "على فتنة بالشارع".

وقال الترابي "لقد عرفت هذه البلاد انتفاضات شعبية في السابق، ومن المرجح ان يحصل الشيء نفسه في السودان" مضيفا "وفي حال لم تحصل انتفاضة قد يقع حمام دم لان الجميع مسلحون في السودان".
ويعتبر الترابي مهندس الانقلاب العسكري الذي قام به الرئيس الحالي عمر حسن البشير عام 1989. الا ان الرجلين اختلفا منذ نحو عشر سنوات ما دفع الترابي الى انشاء حزب جديد اطلق عليه اسم "المؤتمر الشعبي".

تبدو الصحف السودانية الصادرة بالخرطوم اليوم الخميس/20 يناير الجاري/ منشغلة بتصاعد التوتر والحرب الكلامية بين الحكومة وقوى المعارضة التى تهدد بتحريك الشارع احتجاجا على الاوضاع الاقتصادية فى السودان وتطالب بحكومة قومية ، اضافة الى استفتاء جنوب السودان.
وجاء الخبر الرئيسى لصحيفة ((الصحافة)) بعنوان " السلطات تفض تظاهرة وتحذر المعارضة" ، وفى التفاصيل " تحولت ندوة لقوى تحالف المعارضة لتظاهرة فضتها السلطات بالغاز المسيل للدموع وقطعت خط سيرها نحو منزل زعيم حزب المؤتمر الشعبى المعارض حسن الترابى".
وأضافت الصحيفة " ومن جانبه جدد نافع على نافع نائب رئيس المؤتمر الوطنى التأكيد على قدرة الحكومة على حماية البلاد وقلل من تهديدات المعارضة بالنيل منها والاطاحة بها بعد الانفصال".

ونقلت الصحيفة عن محمد الحسن الأمين القيادي البارز بالمؤتمر الوطني قوله " ان دعاوى المعارضة حول عدم شرعية الحكومة بعد الإستفتاء غير صحيح ، وينص الدستور على ان نتيجة الإستفتاء إذا جاءت لصالح إنفصال جنوب السودان فإن رئيس الجمهورية يظل باقياً بموقعه وتسقط فقط من القانون كافة المواد والفقرات المختصة بمؤسسات الجنوب".
ونشرت صحيفة ((الراى العام)) خبرا بعنوان"الترابى حدد مطلع فبراير موعدا لبداية التغيير" ، وفى التفاصيل " كشفت قيادات مقربة من الأمين العام لحزب المؤتمر الشعبي حسن الترابي تفاصيل خطيرة عن تحركاته خلال الأيام التي سبقت اعتقاله يوم الاثنين الماضي وسعيه لتنفيذ خطة التصعيد ضد الحكومة والترتيب لإثارة أعمال الشغب".

الخرطوم: علوية مختار:سامي عبد الرحمن: اعتكفت اسرة الامين العام للمؤتمر الشعبي، الدكتور حسن الترابي، مساء امس أمام مباني جهاز الامن، في انتظار اذن لمقابلته، وطالبت بإدخال طبيب لمراجعة حالته الصحية،بينما جدد تحالف قوى المعارضة التمسك بقرارالاطاحة بالنظام القائم حال عدم الاستجابة لمطالبه بتشكيل حكومة انتقالية، واشراك القوى السياسية في تعديل الدستور، وأكد ان اعتقال الترابي لن يؤثر على مساعي التحالف ومخططاته.
وقالت زوجة الترابي، وصال المهدي، لـ»الصحافة»، نحن في انتظار اذن لمقابلة الترابي، «وسنظل منتظرين لمدة شهرين» حال عدم استجابة السلطات لمطالب الاسرة، واضافت ان الرجل ظل يعاني من مرض «الضغط»، لذلك طلبنا ادخال طبيب لمراجعة حالته الصحية.
ونفى حزب المؤتمر الشعبي، حديث نائب رئيس المؤتمر الوطني، الدكتور نافع علي نافع، بشأن تورط الامين العام الدكتور حسن الترابي، في التخطيط لاحداث (فتنة واغتيالات)، واتهم المؤتمر الوطني بإدمان الكذب السياسي، وجدد تمسكه بخط التغيير والدعوة لقيام انتفاضة شعبية للاطاحة بالنظام.
واستنكر المؤتمر الشعبي، في بيان تحصلت «الصحافة» على نسخة منه امس، تصريحات المؤتمر الوطني، حول تورط الدكتورحسن الترابي، بالترتيب لاحداث (اغتيالات)، وقال «هذه هي لائحة الاتهام الثانية لزعيم الحزب خلال (48) ساعة».
ندوة المعارضة
إلى ذلك تحولت ندوة لقوى تحالف المعارضة في دار حزب المؤتمر الشعبي بضاحية الرياض ليلة أمس، لتظاهرة في شارع «أوماك» فضتها السلطات بالغاز المسيل للدموع وقطعت خط سيرها نحو منزل زعيم حزب المؤتمر الشعبي حسن الترابي .
وطالب القيادي في الشعبي ابراهيم السنوسي، قواعد حزبه وأحزاب التحالف بالخروج للشارع ضد النظام الحاكم الذي وصفة بالمستبد، ووجه انتقادات لاذعة الى نائب رئيس المؤتمر الوطني نافع علي نافع، ورد مؤكدا أن النظام الحاكم يعيش حاليا اضعف ايامة، محذرا من المساس بالترابي أو الإساءة إليه.
وأيد المتحدثون في الندوة التي اقيمت بدار الشعبي أمس وأبرزهم زعيم الحزب الشيوعي محمد إبراهيم نقد، خيار الخروج للشارع لاسقاط الحكومة ،وكان من بين المتحدثين ممثلا الحزب الاتحادي «الأصل» الدكتور علي السيد، والامة القومي سارة نقدالله .
وطالب نقد بعقد مؤتمر مائدة مستديرة لتحديد مصير البلاد في ظل الانفصال الوشيك، وقال إن القوى السياسية لم تستطع أن توقف مصير البلاد في نقطة محددة لان الفعل كله كان بيد المجتمع الدولي، موضحا أن للجنوب خياراته ولكن ليس بمعزل عن الشعب السوداني.
وشدد نقد على ضرورة أن يضع التحالف المعارض ضمن أجندته قضية اللحاق بوحدة البلاد، مؤكدا أن الوقت لازال مفتوحا لمناقشة الجنوب في قضية الوحدة، وزاد» علينا أن لا نيأس فالإرادة السودانية هي التي تحدد مصير البلد»، مشيرا إلى انه أيا كانت نتائج الاستفتاء فإن الجنوب سيبقى جنوب السودان ولن يستطيع تغيير الجغرافيا أو التاريخ.
واتهم الحكومة بالتورط في قتل آلاف المواطنين في اقليم دارفور وامري وبورتسودان وكجبار «دون ان تطالهم العدالة الوطنية. «واكد البيان ان القوى السياسية ظلت تنادي بالتغيير من اجل «البسطاء والفقراء من الشعب السوداني لا قتلهم». الى ذلك، جدد تحالف قوى المعارضة التمسك بقراره ،الاطاحة بالنظام القائم حال عدم الاستجابة لمطالبه بتشكيل حكومة انتقالية واشراك القوى السياسية في تعديل الدستور، وأكد ان اعتقال زعيم المؤتمر الشعبي حسن الترابي لن يؤثر على مساعي التحالف ومخططاته.
وقال رئيس هيئة التحالف فاروق أبو عيسى لـ (الصحافة) إن الهدف من اعتقال الترابي هو تعطيل حراك المعارضة من القيام بواجبها الوطني باستعادة الديمقراطية وتداول السلطة، وشدد على ان التحالف لا تؤثر فيه مثل هذه التصرفات وسيستمر في طريقه، وأكد ان الفرصة لازالت امام المؤتمر الوطني لتنفيذ مطالب التحالف في حكومة انتقالية ودستور مدني ديمقراطي يشارك فيه الجميع ،وهدد (وإلا فإن قرار التحالف بالعمل للاطاحة بالنظام سينفذ لاسيما ان الروح المعنوية عالية بسبب انتصارات الشعب التونسي في دك نظام الحزب الواحد ونظام القهر)، وطالب بإطلاق سراح الترابي وكافة المعتقلين بمن فيهم الصحفي بـ»الصحافة» جعفر السبكي.

صعد تحالف المعارضة من لهجته تجاه الحكومة على خلفية اعتقال الامين العام للمؤتمر الشعبي د.حسن الترابي و(9) من قيادات الحزب، وجدد التحالف تمسكه بموقفه الداعي لاسقاط الحكومة عبر النزول الي الشارع، واعتبر ان الحكومة برفضها مقترح تكوين حكومة انتقالية لم تترك له اي خيارات ثانية. واكد ان الباب مازال مفتوحا امام المؤتمر الوطني بقبول طرح التحالف بانجاز حكومة انتقالية ودستور يفضي الي
انتخابات تأتي بممثلي الشعب الحقيقيين، وشددت المعارضة على ان تنفيذ الوطني لتهديداته المسبقة بالاعتقال وبدئها فعليلاً بقيادات الشعبي لن تثنيه عن مواقفه، في وقت اعلنت القيادية بحرزب الامة القومي د.مريم الصادق المهدي تلقيها تهديداً بالاعتقال. وقال نائب الامين العام للمؤتمر الشعبي عبدالله حسن احمد في مؤتمر صحفي بالمركز العام للحزب بالخرطوم امس ان الامين العام للحزب و(9) من كوادر الحزب اقتادهم السلطات الامنية في وقت متأخر من ليلة امس الاول بسبب موقف الحزب المعلن تجاه النظام القائم حالياً ومناداته مع قوى الاجماع الوطني بضرورة تكوين حكومة انتقالية تعدل الدستور وتهيئ المناخ لانتخابات حرة ونزيهة. وطالب تحالف القوي الوطنية المعارض باطلاق الترابي والقيادات التي اعتقلت معه فوراً، ورفض المبررات التي ساقتها السلطات الامنية، وقال " انه ليس بـ (السذاجة) التي تعتقدها السلطات حتي يخطط مع حركة العدل والمساواة ويترك وثائقه بيدها تتجول بها في الغابة. إلى ذلك قال القيادي بالتحالف محمد ضياء الدين ان الموقف الذي يتبناه المؤتمر الشعبي هو موقف تحالف القوي الوطنية وزاد:(لاعدول عن هذا الموقف)، وشدد: (لن نقبل الاستفزاز، ونعلم ان الشعب السوداني اذا صبر على الجوع، فانه لن يصبر على القهر والاذلال). واضاف: (كنا حريصون علي الحفاظ علي وحدة السودان الا ان المؤتمر الوطني بسياساته الخاطئة واعتقالاته وغيرها من ممارساته المعيبة ستدعونا الي مواجهته وفقا لاستراتيجية اعددنا لها جيداً). وتابع: (نحن علي استعداد لتقديم كل التضحيات وان الاعتقالات لن تثنينا عن مواقفنا المعلنة). من جهتها كشفت القيادية بحزب الامة القومي د.مريم الصادق المهدي عن تلقيها في وقت متاخر من مساء امس تهديدات بالاعتقال، وقالت انه من الواضح ان المؤتمر الوطني لم يعد امامه الا تنفيذ التهديدات التي اعلن عنها من قبل مع صعود موقف المعارضة الداعي للتغيير والذي لن تثنيه اية محاولات قمعية حسب تعبيرها. وذكرت د.مريم ان المؤتمر الوطني قد خلق بخطوته باعتقال الترابي وعدد من كوادر الشعبي توتراً قبل اعلان النتيجة النهائية للاستفتاء وكشفت عن اجتماع مهم لروؤساء الاحزاب عقب تلك النتيجة لاعلان الموقف النهائي. ورددت: (خطوة الاعتقالات لن تخيفنا ولن تؤثر في عمل التحالف)، واعلنت عن ندوة جماهيرية حاشدة تعقد اليوم بدار المؤتمر الشعبي بالخرطوم يتحدث فيها قادة الاحزاب السياسية. من جانبه طالب القطاع الشمالي بالحركة الشعبية لتحرير السودان في بيان امس أجهزة الامن والمؤتمر الوطنى بإطلاق سراح الأمين العام للمؤتمر الشعبي د.حسن الترابى فوراً، ونوه البيان الى ان ذلك الاتجاه الذي وصفه بالخاطىء سيكون طريق الخلاص فى المرحلة القادمة. في السياق طالب امين الاتصال بالحزب الاتحادي الديمقراطي (الاصل) وممثل الحزب بتحالف قوى الاجماع الوطني المعارض د.ابو الحسن فرح في تصريح صحفي امس بإطلاق سراح الترابي وقيادات المؤتمر الشعبي المعتقلين فوراً. وانتقد الاعتقالات واكد موقف الحزب الداعي لكفالة الحريات والداعم لقضايا الديمقراطية. واعلن المؤتمر الشعبي عن قائمة المعتقلين التي ضمت الى جانب الامين العام د.الترابي كل من نائب الامين السياسي الامين عبدالرازق ومساعد امين ولاية الخرطوم دهب محمد صالح وعضو الامانة العامة احمد الشين الوالي وعضو الامانة العامة علي شمار بجانب القيادي الناجي عبدالله وعضو امانة الخرطوم محمد احمد صديق وعضو الامانة السياسية آدم حسن والقيادي عثمان عبدالله ومدير مكتب الامين العام تاج الدين بانقا.

ندوة قوى الإجماع الوطني .. إسقاط النظام هو الخيار

مضت قوى الإجماع الوطني السوداني خطوات في طريق تنفيذ ما توافقت عليه من ترجيح خيار التحرك بإتجاه إسقاط النظام الحاكم في الخرطوم عن طريق الثورة الشعبية. أعلن ذلك عدد من قادة الأحزاب السودانية المعارضة الذين خاطبوا ندوة سياسية حاشدة مساء أمس بدار المؤتمر الشعبي بالمنشية.
وقال الأستاذ محمد إبراهيم نقد السكرتير العام للحزب الشيوعي السوداني الذي قوبل بهتافات حماسية صاخبة من قبل الجمهور: "يجب أن تستغل هذه الحماسة وتسخر في النزول إلى الشارع وتحريك الشعب من أجل تحقيق الثورة المرجوة"، وقلل نقد من أهمية إعتقال الترابي ذاكراً أنه رافق الترابي في عدد من المعتقلات فوجد أنه شخص يصعب حصره وحبسه إذ سرعان ما يحول ذلك إلى جو صالح للإنتاج والعطاء في مختلف المجالات، وأستدرك نقد: "لقد كان من المفيد أن يكون بيننا فنحن نحتاجه في أعمال كثيرة ولكن غيابه لن يكون النهاية."
وشدد سكرتير الحزب الشيوعي في حديثه بدار الشعبي أمس على ضرورة مواصلة العمل مع الجنوب في كل الأحوال من أجل الوصول إلى صيغ من التفاهمات ربما أدت يوماً ما إلى اجتماع شقي البلاد في وحدة جديدة إقتداءً بما تم في اليمن وألمانيا مستفيدين من تجارب تلك الدول التي انقسمت ثم عادت فتوحدت من جديد.
وأعرب نقد عن حزنه لما آلت إليه الأوضاع في دارفور ذاكراً "ان أهل دارفور هم أصحاب ممالك وسلطنات من قبل أن يكون في الخرطوم حكم ومركز فلا ينبغي ان يظلوا مشردين بالنزوح ولاجئين بالمعسكرات يتلقون المعونة والغوث من الأجانب مشدداً على عدالة مطالب أهل دارفور، وأستهجن نقد كثرة الإتفاقيات وتعددها والحالة التي آل إليها السودان في ظل الإنقاذ.
أما السيدة سارة نقد الله ممثلة حزب الأمة القومي فقد أكدت إلتزام حزبها بموقف قوى الإجماع الوطني داعية إلى استمرار الحوار على كافة الأصعدة واتصاله مع الحزب الحاكم من أجل الوصل إلى صيغة من التفاهم ترضي جميع الأطراف.
من جانبه نفى علي السيد المحامي ممثل الحزب الإتحادي الديمقراطي الأصل الحديث عن أي إتفاق بين حزبه والمؤتمر الوطني الحاكم في الخرطوم، مؤكداً انهم مع خيار إسقاط النظام قائلاً: "يجب ألا يصدق الناس أن هناك إتفاق معنا أو إتفاق مع الأمة أو حوار هنا وحوار هناك هذه محض أكاذيب فنحن مع الشعب ونحن مع خيار إسقاط النظام" وفسر السيد إعتقال الشيخ الترابي على أنه إنذار لبقية الاحزاب: "إعتقال الترابي يعني على البقية في الأحزاب الأستعداد، لذا فالأن علينا أن نتفق على إزالة النظام وبالطرق السلمية وإذا لم تنجح فستكون هناك طرق أخرى نعرفها.." وهو ذات الأمر الذي أكده بروفيسور محمد يعقوب شداد ممثل الحزب الديقراطي (الهيئات) الذي قال في كلمة مقتضبة: "إن نظام الإنقاذ هو العامل المشترك في جميع الأزمات ولن تحل أزمة السودان إلا بذهاب وزوال الإنقاذ."
من جانبه حذر الشيخ ابراهيم السنوسي القيادي بالمؤتمر الشعبي الحكومة من الحديث عن الإغتيالات السياسية، وفي إشارة إلى حديث الدكتور نافع علي نافع نائب رئيس المؤتمر الوطني عن مخططات المعارضة لتنفيذ إغتيالات سياسية قال السنوسي بأن الجهة الوحيدة التي ادخلت ادب الإغتيالات على السياسة السودانية هي عناصر في حزب المؤتمر الوطني، مجددا الإتهام للدكتور نافع بانه وعلي عثمان طه نائب الرئيس السوداني ضالعين في التخطيط لإغتيال الرئيس المصري حسني مبارك في أديس أباب العام 1995، وقال السنوسي بان نافع لم يغشى صفوف العمل المعارض أبان عمل الجبهة الوطنية لمعارضة نظام الرئيس السابق جعفر النميري، لذلك يقلل من مقدرات العمل المعارض الآن.
وكان عدد من جمهور الندوة قد خرجوا عقب اللقاء في مسيرة قاصدين منزل الدكتور الترابي إلا أن الشرطة تصدت للمسيرة وأطلقت الغاز المسيل للدموع وفرقتها قبل أن تصل وجهتها، ولم ترد إفادات عن وقوع إعتقالات أو أصابات بين المتظاهرين.
ورجح مراقبون ان يؤدي تصاعد عمل المعارضة السودانية إلى مواجهات بينها والنظام السوداني الذي توعد قادته بالتضييق على العمل المعارض الذي يستهدف إسقاط الحكومة، ولم يستبعد صحفيون وناشطون سياسيون أن تتوسع دائرة الإعتقالات التي بدأت أول من أمس باعتقال الدكتور الترابي وعدد من قيادات وناشطي حزبه لتشمل عدد من قيادات العمل المعارض .

الشرطة السودانية تشتبك مع محتجين من المعارضة

اشتبكت الشرطة السودانية يوم الاربعاء مع محتجين يطالبون باطلاق سراح الزعيم المعارض حسن الترابي الذي اعتقل بعد ان دعا الي "ثورة شعبية" بسبب زيادات في الاسعار ومطالب سياسية. وهاجمت شرطة مكافحة الشغب حوالي 150 متظاهرا في طريق رئيسي بضاحية الرياض في الخرطوم مستخدمة الغاز المسيل للدموع والهراوات. وشوهدت ثلاث سيارات تقل رجال أمن يحملون بنادق خلف شرطة مكافحة الشغب. وهتف المحتجون مرددين "الحرية والعدالة". وجاء القبض على الترابي يوم الثلاثاء في وقت حساس سياسيا لحكومة الرئيس السوداني عمر حسن البشير الذي يوشك أن يفقد السيطرة على جنوب البلاد المنتج للنفط الذي اجرى استفتاء على الاستقلال الاسبوع الماضي.
وألقت الشرطة السودانية هذا الاسبوع القبض ايضا على 10 من اعضاء الحزب الذي يتزعمه الترابي كانوا دعوا الي احتجاجات في الشوارع اذا لم تتراجع الخرطوم عن زيادات في الاسعار وتشكل حكومة ائتلاف وطني تضم المعارضة في شمال السودان.
وخرج المحتجون الي الشوارع يوم الاربعاء بعد ان غادروا ندوة نظمها ائتلاف معارض وضمت ممثلين لجميع الاحزاب الرئيسية طالبوا بالافراج الفوري عن الترابي.
وهددت المعارضة يوم الاحد الماضي بالخروج الي الشوارع اذا لم تعزل الحكومة وزير المالية وتحل البرلمان بسبب قرار زيادة اسعار عدد كبير من السلع.
واشتبكت الشرطة الاسبوع الماضي مع طلاب في اربع مدن كانوا يحتجون على ارتفاع الاسعار بعد ان خفضت الحكومة الدعم للمنتجات البترولية والسكر.
ويعاني السودان عجزا في ميزان المعاملات الجارية وانخفاضا في قيمة العملة وهو ما يرفع التضخم.
ونظمت اسرة الترابي اعتصاما اليوم خارج مقر جهاز المخابرات والامن الوطني مطالبين بالسماح لهم بزيارته.
واودع الترابي السجن عدة مرات منذ قطيعته مع الحزب الحاكم بزعامة البشير في 1999-2000 .
وتخشى الخرطوم منذ وقت طويل نفوذ الترابي مع اعتقادها بان كثيرين من انصاره ما زالوا باقين في مناصب رئيسية بالجيش وقوات الامن

Pro-Turabi supporters stage demonstrations in Khartoum

January 19, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – Several hundred members from the Popular Congress Party (PCP) staged a demonstration in the Sudanese capital on Wednesday night to protest the arrest of their leader in another sign of growing political tensions in the North as the South prepares to break away.

On Tuesday, the Islamist opposition figure Hassan Al-Turabi Turabi was arrested at his home by heavily armed security officers. More than half a dozen senior officials from the PCP were also taken into custody.
Initially the Sudanese authorities justified the move by saying that they found new information retrieved from Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) members captured in West Darfur last week that links the PCP to the rebel movement.
But on Tuesday the Sudanese presidential assistant Nafie Ali Nafie said that Turabi was detained after discovering a plot to carry out a sabotage attempt and assassinations but gave no details.
Opposition figures held a public meeting on Wednesday at the PCP headquarters in Khartoum in which they called for the release of Turabi and pledged to topple the government by any means necessary.
The PCP leading figure Ibrahim Al-Sanoosi speaking at the forum called for opposition to unite ranks.
"The only enemy for us [opposition] now is the government and we will bring it down by any means necessary," calling on the Sudanese army "to side with people’s choices".
Al-Sanoosi also plead to the police to avoid hitting demonstrators, stressing that the bulk of the current country leaders "are not from well known families nor are they people of power or wealth or from the political leaders of the Islamic movement".
"In the same way we brought them to power we shall overthrow them to repent from our sin" he added.
Turabi was the mastermind behind the 1989 coup staged by president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir. But the pair fell out following the introduction of a bill to limit the president’s powers in 1999, a move which the president resisted by dissolving parliament and declaring a state of emergency.
He was in an out of jail the whole time after splitting ranks with Bashir over accusations ranging from staging a coup attempt to standing behind the rebellion that broke out in Darfur.
The PCP chief is believed to be seeking to avenge his ouster which was orchestrated by his former disciples. The party has acknowledged that it made a mistake by planning the 1989 coup that brought Bashir to power.
Al-Sanoosi criticized the government’s refusal to negotiate with JEM saying that if the latter is PCP’s military wing then they should negotiate with them rather than go to Doha which is hosting the peace talks.
"Why are they negotiating with them [JEM] in Doha and block us from negotiating with them [JEM] . We find it bizarre their accusation that JEM is PCP’s military wing. They are negotiating with JEM and not us the origin if we were truly linked to them".
The PCP figure also claimed that they have the ability to end the Darfur crisis in 24 hours.
Al-Sanoosi also revealed for the first time that the Islamic movement probed Vice President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha and presidential assistant Nafie Ali Nafie, following their involvement in the assassination attempt on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Ethiopia in 1994.
He pointed out that the charges by Nafie against Turabi this week is because the he was bitter after the PCP leader expelled him from the security bureau after the plot on Mubarak. He also mocked Nafie’s remarks on the alleged assassination plot by Turabi saying that he had plenty of opportunities to do that with big support from security agencies but did not do so.
Furthermore he pointed fingers at Nafie saying that he was behind a number of assassinations in the past and threatened to unveil more secrets.
Al-Sanoosi said he does not fear arrest and is willing to join Turabi in prison and slammed corruption within the government claiming that’s Bashir’s vehicle costs $1 million.
The leader of the Sudanese Communist Party (SCP) Mohamed Ibrahim Nugud speaking at the forum said that everyone needs Turabi at this moment to contribute in resolving the issues of Sudan and to hold a constitutional conference to save time rather than take the streets immediately.
Nugud demanded an apology to the people of Darfur and approving of their demands for establishing a one region status.
In the same context, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leading figure Ali Al-Sayed denied rumors about his party’s dialogue with the ruling party calling it "lies", stressing that the party’s choice is with the people to topple the government and said that with the arrest of Turabi people must be prepared for ghost houses."
At the conclusion of the meeting PCP supporters took streets adjacent to the meeting place on their way to Turabi’s house chanting anti-government slogans but clashed with police which dispersed them using batons and tear gas.
Turabi’s wife on Wednesday also staged a sit-in at the HQ of the NISS demanding to see her husband with two of her daughters saying that she will not leave until she gets to see him.
She told Sudan Tribune that the doctor was not allowed to check Turabi and that the NISS backtracked on their promise to let her meet with him at 2 pm.

طالبت قوى الاجماع الوطني باطلاق سراح الشيخ الدكتور حسن عبد الله الترابي الامين العام لحزب المؤتمر الشعبي ورفاقه المعتقلين من قيادات الشعبي فورا.
واكدت قوى الاجماع في المؤتمر الصحفي الذي عقد ظهر امس بدار حزب المؤتمر الشعبي بالخرطوم على خلفية الاعتقالات التي طالت قيادات الشعبي، اكدت تمسكها بموقفها المعلن الذي ينص على تشكيل حكومة انتقالية لصياغة دستور دائم واعادة هيكلة الدولة واجراء انتخابات حرة ونزيهة، واضافت ان ارادة الشعب قادرة على المواجهة لانتزاع الحقوق المشروعة في حالة رفض المؤتمر الوطني للاستجابة لمطالب قوى الاجماع والشعب السوداني.
واوضحت قوى الاجماع انها طرحت التغيير الدستوري السلمي بتشكيل الحكومة الانتقالية وليس حكومة المؤتمر الوطني المسماة بالعريضة لتمرير اجندته وبرامجه باسم الاحزاب.
وقال دكتور عبد الله حسن احمد الامين العام بالانابة لحزب المؤتمر الشعبي ان البلاد في مرحلة حرجة ومفصلية تقتضي احداث التغيير، كاشفا تفاصيل عملية اعتقال الشيخ الترابي
ورفاقه في ساعة متأخرة من ليلة امس الاول، مبينا ان السلطات المختصةقد اغلقت الشوارع المتاخمة لمنزل الشيخ الترابي في ساعة متأخرة من ليلة امس الاول وطلبت خروجه من المنزل في غضون عشر دقائق وهذا ليس غريبا لان قيادات الشعبي موقفهم واضح من قضايا البلاد وضرورة حلها عبر النهج السلمي.
واضاف عبد الله ان الشعب السوداني يعاني من ارتفاع الاسعار والضائقة المعيشية وان حكومة المؤتمر الوطني تناور بطرح الحكومة العريضة وفقا برنامج المؤتمر الوطني دون تغيير في الدستور، مؤكدا تمسك قوى الاجماع بالحكومة الانتقالية ورفض الحكومة العريضة التي تهدف لادخال الاحزاب في مظلة المؤتمر الوطني، مبينا ان الحل يكمن في إزالة النظام واسقاطه ما لم يوافق على مطالب قوى الاجماع الوطني بتكوين الحكومة الانتقالية واعادة هيكلة الدولة ووضع الدستور لاجراء انتخابات نزيهة، قائلا : (ان القوى السياسية تعمل للمواجهة عبر العمل المدني السلمي في الشارع وليس عبر السلاح والعنف)، مضيفا ان المؤتمر الوطني اختار ذلك برفضه للحكومة الانتقالية.
وقال عبد الله ان السلطات المختصة اعتقلت الشيخ الترابي واخوانه بسبب دعوته لاسقاط النظام عبر الانتفاضة الشعبية وليس بسبب اعتقال ابراهيم الماظ، مبينا ان المؤتمر الشعبي ليس غبيا حتى يمنح الماظ خططا ليحملها معه في الغابة.
وقال عبد الله ان الحركات المسلحة بدارفور والتي تدعو لاسقاط الحكومة لم تطرح حمل السلاح بل تعمل عبر النهج السلمي الجماهيري. واتهم عبد الله حزب المؤتمر الوطني بمحاولة تضليل الناس بنشر معلومات غير صحيحة قائلا : (المؤتمر الوطني يعلم ان دكتور خليل ابراهيم رئيس حركة العدل والمساواة موجود بليبيا اذا ارادوا اعتقاله)، مضيفا ان للحركات المسلحة بدارفور قضايا عادلة لابد من التفاوض معها.
ودعا عبد الله الحكومة لتشكيل الحكومة الانتقالية قائلا : (ندعو الحكومة لتكوين حكومة انتقالية والا فنحن نازلين للشارع مع الاحزاب السودانية كافة).
وقال الاستاذ محمد ضياء الدين القيادي البارز بحزب البعث العربي الاشتراكي لا تراجع عن موقف قوى الاجماع الوطني وعلى المؤتمر الوطني تنفيذ مطالب الشعب، مضيفا يكفي ما تعرضت له البلاد ولن نقبل بمزيد من الاستفزازات التي ستؤدي الى ردود الافعال.
وطالب باطلاق سراح دكتور الترابي ورفاقه فورا معلنا ان موقف المؤتمر الشعبي هو موقف قوى الاجماع الوطني.
واعلنت دكتورة مريم الصادق المهدي مساعد الامين العام لحزب الامة القومي رفض قوى الاجماع الوطني للاستفزاز والتهديد وزيادة اسعار السلع الضرورية والتعدي على الحقوق ووجهت انتقادات للتصريحات التي اطلقتها قيادات المؤتمر الوطني مؤخرا، واكدت د. مريم تمسك الجميع بتشكيل حكومة انتقالية عبر برنامج وطني ووضع دستور جديد للبلاد، وابانت ان القوى الوطنية ستعمل لتحقيق التطلعات ولن يهدأ لها بال قبل تحقيق الاهداف المنشودة، معلنة الاستعداد للاعتقال في سبيل الحق.
واضافت د. مريم ان المؤتمر الوطني حاول افتعال اعمال لوقف عملية الاستفتاء واطلق تهديدات للقيادات السياسية، مؤكدة ان قوى الاجماع عملت على تهيئة المناخ لتتم عملية الاستفتاء بسلام.
وطالبت د. مريم باطلاق سراح الشيخ حسن الترابي فورا واصفة اعتقاله بانه استفزاز للاحزاب.
واعلنت قوى الاجماع الوطني عن ندوة جماهيرية كبرى ستعقدها مساء اليوم الاربعاء بدار المؤتمر الشعبي بالخرطوم يخاطبها قيادات القوى السياسية المعارضة.
وفي سياق متصل طالب الحزب الاتحادي الديمقراطي الاصل باطلاق سراح الشيخ الترابي، وقال دكتور ابو الحسن فرح ممثل الاتحادي في قوى الاجماع في تصريح صحفي امس ان الاتحادي الاصل ضد تقييد الحريات والاعتقالات السياسية.
هذا وقد أفادت مصادر بالشعبي «أخبار اليوم» أن قائمة المعتقلين من الحزب تشمل:
1- الدكتور حسن عبد الله الترابي – الامين العام.
2- الامين عبد الرازق – نائب الامين السياسي.
3- دهب محمد صالح – مساعد امين ولاية الخرطوم.
4- احمد الشين الوالي - عضو الامانة العامة.
5- علي شمار – عضو الامانة العامة.
6- الناجي عبد الله – قيادي بالطلاب.
7- محمد أحمد صديق – عضو امانة ولاية الخرطوم.
8- ادم حسن – عضو الامانة العامة السياسية.
9- عثمان عبد الله – قيادي بالمؤتمر الشعبي.
10- تاج الدين بانقا – مدير مكتب الترابي.
11- كمال هدى.

وكشف الحزب الشيوعي السوداني عن اعتقالات طالت عددا من اعضاء الحزب بولاية الخرطوم منهم الاستاذ عسيلات بجانب عدد من عضوية الحزب بشرق النيل اثناء قيامهم بتوزيع بيان جماهيري يرفض زيادة الاسعار.
وطالبت قوى الاجماع الوطني السلطات باطلاق سراح جميع المعتقلين من الشعبي والحزب الشيوعي.

(Reuters) - Sudanese police clashed on Wednesday with protesters demanding the release of opposition leader Hassan al-Turabi, who was detained after he called for a "popular revolution" over price rises and political demands.
A Reuters witness saw riot police attack about 150 protesters on a main road in the Riyad suburb of Khartoum with tear gas and batons. Three cars full of security men carrying rifles were waiting behind the riot police.
Protesters were shouting "freedom and justice."
Turabi's arrest on Tuesday came at a politically sensitive time for the government of President Omar Hassan al Bashir, who stands to lose control over the oil-producing south which last week voted in an independence referendum.
It also comes as Tunisia grapples with fallout from the ouster of its long-time president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali, who fled the country last week after three weeks of violent unrest sparked by social grievances.
Sudanese police this week also arrested 10 members of Turabi's party who had called for street protests if Khartoum did not reverse price rises and form a national coalition government to include the opposition in the north of Sudan.
The protesters took to the streets on Wednesday after leaving a forum by an opposition coalition, which included all the main parties, who demanded Turabi's immediate release.
The opposition had threatened on Sunday to take to the streets if the government did not remove its finance minister and dismantle parliament over the decision to raise prices on a range of goods.
Arab governments are reeling from Tunisia's popular revolution which ousted its president after 23 years in power, sparking calls for similar uprisings throughout the Arab world.
Bashir is the only sitting head of state wanted by the International Criminal Court. He stands accused of war crimes and genocide during a counter-insurgency campaign in the western Darfur region, charges he denies.
Last week police clashed with students in four cities who were protesting against rising prices after the government cut subsidies on petroleum products and key commodity sugar.
Sudan is grappling with a current account deficit and a currency devaluation that is driving up inflation.
On Wednesday Turabi's family staged a sit-in protest outside the feared National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) demanding they be allowed to visit him.
Turabi, who split from Bashir in 1999/2000 after a power struggle, has since been in and out of jail. He is usually arrested during difficult times for the government, most notably when Darfur rebels launched an unprecedented attack on the capital in 2008.
Bashir fears Turabi may still have supporters inside the powerful army and NISS.

وجاب المتظاهرون بعضاً من شوارع العاصمة وصولاً إلى منزل الترابي وهنا تدخلت الشرطة مستخدمة الغاز المسيل للدموع والهروات لتفريق جمع المتظاهرين وقامت باحتواء المسيرة السلمية.
وفي سياق متصل، صوتت الغالبية العظمى من المشاركين في استفتاء تقرير مصير الجنوب لصالح الانفصال بحسب نتائجَ أولية.
الأمر الذي دعا سكان الجنوب لعدم الانتظار حتى إعلان النتائج النهائية للاحتفال بدولتهم فبدأوا في إعداد عناصر الدولة الجديدة حيث بدأوا بالنشيد الوطني..
فبعد حلم بدولة جديدة تكون وطنا مستقلا للجنوبيين، راود مخيلتهم لسنوات طويلة ورأوا في تحقيقه الذي بات وشيكا انتصارا يستحق الاحتفال.
فالتجهييز للنشيد الوطني للدولة المرتقبة بدأ منذ أشهر بطلب من الجيش الشعبي لتحرير السودان، حيث صاغ فريق من الشعراء النشيد الذي سماه "أرض كوش" وهي المملكة التي حكمت طيلة ألف عام على أرض تمتد من جنوب مصر حتى مدينة ملكال الواقعة في القسم الشمالي من جنوب السودان.
ومع الإعلان عن النتائج الأولية للاستفتاء على مصير الجنوب والذي أظهر أن الغالبية العظمى من الأصوات تؤيد الانفصال بات الأمر بالنسبة لمواطني الجنوب السوداني أياما معدودة تفصلهم عن الاحتفال بميلاد دولتهم الجديدة، وبات النشيد الوطني النغمة التي يدندن بها الجميع بل ويضعونها نغمة لهواتفهم المحمولة.
وجاء الإعلان عن ولادة النشيد الوطني الجديد عن طريق تنظيم حفل تجريبي في جامعة جوبا حضره آلاف الجنوبيين، غنوا ورددوا وبكوا نشوة وانتصارا بنشيد لوطن لايزال حتى اليوم مجهول الاسم.
