Sudanese Political Alliance UK and Ireland
A Call for
Demonstration and Vigil in front of Sudan Embassy – London
12 Noon
Sunday, January 16, 2011
The Sudanese Political Alliance (UK and Ireland) cordially calls upon Civic Societies, Trade Unions, Sudanese Community Organizations, Unions, Cultural Associations, Regional Associations, Youth Organizations, Women’s Organizations, National Figures, The Sudanese People at large and Supporters and Advocates of Sudanese Issues from all nationalities to gather in solidarity with the Sudanese people to effect a change of the current repressive and totalitarian regime. A regime that through its ill-guided policies and oppression of its own people has now brought a united country and nation to the brink of secession and disintegration.
We appeal to you to stand with our call to the Bashir’s authoritarian regime to hand over power to the people of Sudan to form a National Government that would cater for a solution to Sudan’s chronic problems at the forefront of which comes the tragic problem of Darfur, and the economic crisis of the country.
The Alliance calls upon all peace-loving and human rights-caring people to gather at 12 Noon on Sunday January 16th (the last polling day of the Referendum) in front of the Sudan Embassy (3 Cleveland Row, London W1) to express their dismay and disapproval of the Bashir’s dictatorial regime that has brought disasters, political instability and economic hardships to the country, and disrespect to its historical, cultural, and social heritage.
Candles will be lit as a symbol of our heartfelt sadness for the loss of a shared history with our brothers and sisters in Southern Sudan.
We call upon all Sudanese in the UK and Ireland, children, youth, women and men of all ages to participate in marking this historic day, to put an end to the policy of ‘divide and rule’; and to pave the way for a state that accommodates all its citizens, safeguards their legitimate rights and provide for their welfare and social justice so as not to encourage other parts of our beloved country to call for secession.
The Sudanese Political Alliance (UK and Ireland) sincerely calls upon Sudanese all over the world to organize similar protests on Sunday January 16th to express their heartfelt sadness for the loss of a shared history with our brothers and sisters in Southern Sudan.
