Sudan's Canar Telecom is reported to have launched the country's first 3G network, under the brand name "Canar Go". Canar Telecom was established in April 2005 in the name of Canar Telecommunication. The technical specifications of the network were not announced - it could be possible that this is a WiFi based system.
"We have the pleasure to announce the delivery of our wireless broadband Internet service, Canar Go, in the Sudan for our customers, which will contribute to the development and growth of their lives and businesses," stated Ali Ben Jarsh, the chief executive officer of Canar Telecommunication told TradeArabia.
In his speech, Mr. Mohammed Hassan Umran Chairman of Board of Directors of the company has reaffirmed that: "The Emirates Telecommunication Corporation (Etisalat) aspires to build up a long term strategic continuing partnership with the Sudanese government and other vital sectors of the Sudanese community through which it can Make available it's potentialities for Canar Telecommunication Company to provide excellent high-quality services for the benefit of this country in order to contribute in pushing forward the wheel of the development and rehabilitating its human resources."
In his speech, Canar Telecommunication's Managing Director Mr. Saood Al Jenaibi added that this celebration was meant to launch the network while confirming that the sales campaign will be announced later.
