Bright Ideas Trust provides an innovative package of business support services to 16-30 year olds in London who are looking to start their own business
Empowering Tomorrow's Entrepreneurs
We are a charity that helps young people in London who aren’t in employment, education or training or who haven’t had the same chances as the rest of society to start their own companies and learn business skills that will stay with them for life.
We help by providing funding as well as advice and support from our team of dedicated business mentors and expert advisors. Click here to find out more about the support we provide.
We work with youth organisations throughout London to spread the word about what we do and encourage young people to share their ideas with us. In Hackney alone, we’re partnered with twenty-five organisations, as part of our first Bright Ideas Borough campaign.

Why we do it London is full of young people with great business ideas and the raw talent and determination to become successful entrepreneurs. But some of them are finding it hard to take their ideas further because they lack the necessary funding, skills and opportunities.
We believe more should be done to help these aspiring entrepreneurs realise their potential, particularly those from groups in our society that have traditionally found it harder to enter the business world.
A different kind of charity We currently rely on much-appreciated donations but we’re working towards making Bright Ideas Trust a self-financing charity by running it as a profit-focused business.
Instead of giving our aspiring entrepreneurs handouts we loan them money and/or buy a small amount of equity in their companies. We profit through charging a very low rate of interest on the loans and from our equity in the companies should they be sold for a profit.
All profits and loan repayments go back into running the charity and helping more aspiring entrepreneurs.
Our goal of financial independence isn’t the only reason we operate this way. We invest in our aspiring entrepreneurs instead of giving them handouts because we want them to experience the realities of starting a business. That way, they develop business skills that will stay with them for life.
