Date: Tuesday, May 20 from 12:00 - 1:30 pm in the 6th floor Auditorium. Where: Ronald Reagan Building: One Woodrow Wilson Plaza, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave., NW ("Federal Triangle" stop on Blue/Orange Line). Due to security precautions, a photo ID is required to enter the Ronald Regan Building. The Wilson Center is best accessed via the metro entrance or near Jordan's Restaurant.
You are invited to a presentation on The Sudan: The Road to Progress presented by the Foreign Minister of the Republic of the Sudan, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail. Dr. Ismail has served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs since 1998. Prior to that time, he served for two years as the State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Khartoum. Dr. Ismail has a Ph.D. and Masters of Science from the United Kingdom and has lectured at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Khartoum and served as a General Practitioner for the Ministry of Health. Widely published in scientific and research publications and the author of two books on Sudanese Diplomacy, Dr. Ismail is active as a member of the Physicians Union and as Chairman of the Sudanese Inter-Religious Dialogue Association. Dr. Ismail's presence in Washington will provide an opportunity for an in-depth review of the evolving Sudanese peace process and U.S. - Sudan relations. The session will be moderated by Dr. Howard Wolpe, Consulting Director of the Africa Project at the Woodrow Wilson Center.
