Dears,
Further to my message on April 15, 2003. Our source informed us that since April 16, 2003, the authorities held incommunicado in Shala prison, near AlFashir City, 7 of local Fur leaders from Direemo village, A'amoo area 30km west of Kuttum town. These leaders were teaching their people to take precautionary steps to avoid the daily helicopter bombarding and to escape the terrible consequences of Monguary and Sumbo. The detainees are: 1- Adam Mohammed Adam Al-Haj, Farmer, 41 years. 2- Ahmed Adam Ali Al-Haj, Farmer, 27 years. 3- Mohammed Ishaq Mohammed, School Teacher, 46 years. 4- Ali Adam Abdulkareem, Farmer, 31 years. 5- Mohammed Omar Mustafa, Farmer, 40 years. 6- Ahmed Abdulmajeed Nimir, Farmer, 52 years. 7- Ahmed Adam Musslam, Farmer, 39 years. Mr. Abdullah Al-Haj Kurra was shot dead by the Government soldiers in front of his family because he objected checking his house without court order. The deceased wife Mrs. Maryomah Idrees Adam Musa, 27 years, and Mr. Yahya Yousif Tibin, were shot and their legs broken when they attempted to rescue Mr. Kurra. In addition, Mr. Ibrahim Adam Ibrahim Rasheed, a car owner, from Toumbouray village and his assistant Mr. Babikir Mohammedain Mohammed, were held incommunicado since March 26, 2003 because they tried to help the villagers to evacuate the villages. In Kabkayah town, the authorities held incommunicado the following citizens of Zagawa community with no question: 1- Ahmed Yahya Boush, Shopkeeper, 33 years. 2- Omar Hussain, School Teacher, 55 years. 3- Adam Haroon Nour, School Teacher, 38 years. Our source told us that he might not be able to inform about the situation because of fears that he may be under scrutiny by the authorities. Our source told us that the situation is escalated after the visit of General Omar AlBasheer to AlFashir, the capital city of Darfur Northern State, last week where he met Idrees Deby, the president of neighboring Republic of Chad. The two presidents called for the activation of the bilateral security conventions. President Deby promised to shift his Military Operations Office to Tinna, Chad bordering town, to assist the Government of Sudan in its fighting against the SLA/SLM. The sufferings of the civilians are expected to increase since the authorities denied food supplies and restricted travel from and to Dar Zagawa and Furrnog area, where the military activities are taking place. Therefore, appeal to the International Community, the UN, the aid providers, the Human Rights Organizations, and the Government of Sudan, to lift food embargo off Furrnog and Dar Zagawa. The Government of Sudan to stop military operations to ease reach of the civilians to secure places, to protect the civilians, their homes and properties to be looted and/or burned by the Janjaweed (Arab militias). To offer shelters to those who fled their homes, to release detainees or submit them in front of courts in due course of Law. We appeal to the International Community to adopt pressure on the Government of Sudan to protect its citizens, and to take the appropriate measures to prevent the Janjaweed to change the demographic factors of the area. The International Community has to be aware enough that the human rights' situation in Darfur was overshadowed by the civil war in Southern Sudan, but now the overall human rights situation in Sudan in general, and in Darfur in particular, is overshadowed by the Iraqi war. Moreover, the Government of Sudan deems the report of the UN Commission on Human Rights (59th session) that Sudan is innocent country in the field of the human rights, as a historical victory.

Dears, I am writing to inform you that the Government of Sudan is launching a silent war against its civilian citizens in the isolated region of Northern State of Darfur. From 30th March 2003 onwards, the Helicopters of Sudan Army are daily bombarding Kurrgay area, District of Furrnog, 80Km northwest of Kuttum town. This daily bombarding had caused to burn to ashes the villages of Monguray (500 huts) and Sumbo (68 huts). Consequently, the residents of the other villages fled their huts to escape this horrific situation to a tragic one, they are unsheltered under the sun, women, children, sick, and old ones. All villagers are gathered in Dibo area to the north. Their basic life needs are not maintained. The nearest water well is about 10km far. Although it is not safe, people are forced to walk daily on foot this distance up and down to bring water to their beloved ones. The hygienic situation is worsening. The Arab Militias (Janjaweed) which, supporting the Government in its war against the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army, looted the villages and the two medical centers. The Government of Sudan denied food supplies to the area. Around 200 loaded trucks have been restricted to travel from Kuttum to Furrnog and Dar Zagawa areas. The area is already suffering of draught and famine for many years due to scarcity of rain. People can not flee to Kuttum, because the authorities considered them as rebels and will not protect them to be looted and attacked by the Janjaweed, who occupied the town. The following villages have been deserted: Ulgos Abba, Kologagpanj, Funga, Funo, Sirgelo, Argunjay, Argee, Sangir, Umbada, Kurree, Tobonga, Jaigaini, Kurtaih, Kangla, Kattma, Jala, Toumbouray, Ustani, Bornjo, and Louk. As it was the experience in Western & Southern Darfur Sates, the Janjaweed will loot the villages of Fur, and burn them under the supervision of the local authorities, and then occupy them and claim Arab emirates (ruling areas) and change the names of the villages. Probably this could be the same practice! Please alter/modify this message and appeal to the international community for urgent food and medicine aid and protection from the brutal activities of Government of Sudan against its innocent citizens.
