Quote: Kenya's police detained a man on Thursday who they claimed could be linked to investigations by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). The ICTY, which was established in 1993 to prosecute those suspected of war crimes in the former Yugoslavia, only has two suspects left on its wanted list: Ratko Mladic, the wartime Bosnian Serb army chief who faces charges of genocide, and Goran Hadzic, the Croatian Serb leader who is accused of crimes against humanity. Eric Kiraithe, a spokesman for the Kenyan police, said the man was arrested on Thursday in the coastal city of Mombasa. "His fingerprints will be taken and we will have officers from Interpol to assist us [in identifying him]," Mr Kiraithe said. He declined to provide the suspect's name or nationality. "So far, the suspect has told our officers he is an international investor with vast interests in the hotel industry. Our officers are trying to ascertain all this," he said. Witnesses said they had identified the suspect as a foreigner who has managed a tourist resort for years in the coastal city of Mombasa. Authorities at the UN's International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia are awaiting confirmation of the man's identity, a spokesman said. "We have no indication that it is anything worthy of our attention at the moment," she said. The tribunal was established 15 years ago and has indicted 161 suspects. Only Mr Mladic and Mr Hadzic are still on the run. Mr Mladic, 67, is charged with genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. He is accused of masterminding the July 1995 massacre in Srebrenica, where some 8,000 Muslim men were killed by Serb forces. Mr Hadzic, 50 is wanted in connection with atrocities during the war in Croatia.
