Call for an international lawyer to monitor the trial of the journalist Mohamed T. Mohamed Ahmed
In support of the call by the Sudan-based, the Sudanese Human Rights Group (SHRG), the Sudanese Canadian Human Rights Organization (SCHRO) calls upon the international human rights community to send a lawyer to monitor the trail set up by the Sudanese government to prosecute the journalist Mohamed Taha Mohamed Ahmed.
Our sources confirmed the fears of Gazi Suliman, the head of the Sudanese journalist’s defense team that a fair trial is impossible under the current court circumstances. SCHRO believes that the fears are founded because hundreds of protestors assemble in front of the building to influence the decisions; the court sessions are not documented as well as the fact that demonstrators have attacked the defense team.
Please feel free to contact us if more information regarding this matter is needed at [email protected]
Yours truly, Elfadil Elsharief
President Sudanese Canadian Human Rights Organizations (SCHRO)
Copies were sent to Amnesty International head quarter in London and the Office of Human Rights Watch.
