On Friday morning, the security authorities at Khartoum International Airport prevented journalist Faisal Mohamed Saleh from travelling to London; the second action of its kind within two days.
Saleh reported on his Facebook page on Friday that when he arrived at the airport at 5 am, agents of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) intercepted him.
They told him that his name is on the list of people banned from travelling abroad, and confiscated his passport.
On Wednesday, Siddig Yousef, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Sudan was barred from travelling to Switzerland, where he was to participate in the meetings of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva in preparation for the Council’s periodic report.
Activist
The 56-year-old Saleh has worked for various Sudanese newspapers for 25 years. He holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Cardiff in Wales. He teaches journalism at many Sudanese universities, and works on media training inside and outside Sudan.
He is an activist in the fields of civil society, human rights, freedom of expression, and media, is therefore regularly targeted by the authorities.andnbsp; <
