SUDAN PARTICIPATES IN INDIAN-AFRICAN PARTNERSHIP FORUM

Khartoum, Nov. 19 (SUNA) - Sudan participated in the Indian-African Partnership Forum, which was held in New Delhi on November 6-8. The forum was organized by the Indian Union of Industries in collaboration with the Indian Bank of Exports and Imports in coordination with the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Industry and Commerce, where 34 African states participated. State Minister at the Ministry of Industry Eng. Ali Ahmed Osmsan, who headed Sudan's delegation to the forum, said in a press statement following his return to Khartoum that the Indian Foreign Minister inaugurated the forum in which more than 200 Indian companies participated, numerating the cooperation and coordination in various fields with the African countries, calling for establishment of African- Indian block to face the international economic and political challenges. Sudan Ambassador to India Abdel-Mahmoud Abdel-Halim addressed the forum, in his capacity as the dean of African diplomatic corps, affirming the importance of partnership with India, as Africa needs the Indian technology in the fields of investment in agriculture, industry, infrastructure and information. The state minister explained that the forum reviewed a number of models of methods, means and technology for developing small- and medium- scale industries. He added that he had reviewed in his address to the forum the tremendous fields of investment and cooperation available in Sudan in various fields of production, particularly in the industrial sector in general and the small and medium- scale industries in particular, inviting the investors to invest in Sudan. Eng. Osman said that the Sudan delegation met, on the sidelines of the forum, with a number of Indian officials. The meeting with the Indian Minister of Textile discussed the Indian support to the projects of rehabilitation of textile sector in Sudan. The minister agreed to send a high level delegation to Sudan to assess the requirements of the textile sectors. The meeting with the Indian Bank of Exports and Imports came out with a memo of understanding on various fields of cooperation between the bank and the Sudanese Industrial Development Bank in the field of industry. The delegation also met a number of Indian companies and institutions, which are interested in investment in Sudan. BH/BT
