RECOMMENDATIONS AND RESOLUTIONS of the FIRST CONFERENCE OF SOUTH SUDAN ISLAMIC COUNCIL (SSIC)

God Says:
“O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honorable of you with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwâ [i.e. he is one of the Muttaqûn (the pious. See V.2:2)]. Verily, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Aware.”

Towards supporting and strengthening Islam in South Sudan, and to eliminate distortions created by propaganda by the past Sudanese governments and based on freedom of religions in New Sudan, the first meeting of the South Sudan Islamic Council (SSIC), which is a structural part of the New Sudan Islamic Council (NSIC), was held in the period between 24-28 April 2005 in Yei town.
The meeting was attended by great audience from different towns and regions of the South Sudan.
At the opening, the attendance stand and read Al-Fâtihah to the souls of Martyrs of the Sudanese People Liberation Movement/ Sudanese People Liberation Army (SPLM/A) headed by Cdr Yousif Kuwa Makki and Daud Yahya Bolad.
In the meeting the executive committee of the SSIC was elected in order to accomplish the structural process of the NSIC, the latter fails due to logistical problems.

The meeting of the SSIC continued in Yei town, where delegates expressed their great sorrow for the great pains caused to them by the Sudanese government when it convinced governments of the Arabs Nations about its ideas, that the SPLM/A war against Khartoum government was against Islam.
But the shameful events of Darfur, which is till taking place has exposed leading government authorities in igniting and stoking the mascaras, although Darfur is inhabited by 100% Muslims, therefore it shows the whole world lies of previous allegations and its racial attitudes.
In order to rectifying the previous mistakes, securing achieved gains and to lay down bases for noble and perfect human values, that will spare the coming generations the injustice we witnessed committed under the pretext of Islam merely for racial objectives, we issued the following resolutions and recommendations:
1- Supporting and blessing the peace agreement between SPLM/A and the government of Sudan.

2- To work under the administration of the NSIC in order to unify Muslims in the New Sudan.
3- Urged SPLM/A Leadership to work and intervene to stop the shameful events of Darfur.
4- The Conference emphasized that, Muslims in SPLM/A were part and parcel of the Liberation Struggles.
5- All religious decrees that were issued to wage war on SPLM/A were condemned, because they were illegitimates and politically motivated and doesn’t related to Islamic religion.
6- The Conference condemned the Stand of Arabs Governments in renegade Muslims members of SPLM/A.
7- The Conference decided not to seek for any financial assistant from Govrnment of Arabic Countries.
8- The Conference decided to work on purifying the true Islamic Religion from cultures and traditions that have been exploited in violating human dignity.
9- To work for eliminating the distorted images of Muslims in SPLM/A caused by Sudanese governments.
10- Establishment of religious curriculum that should accommodate the concepts of modern human values.
11- We urged Sudan Relief Rehabilitation Commission SRRC (or relevant authorities) to consult NSIC before registering any Islamic Associations or Organizations.
