KHARTOUM, May 9, 2005 (SUNA) -- The co-spokesman for the national constitution commission, ambassador Al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed, on Monday said the government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) are currently working to complete preparations for moving the deliberations of the commission to the town of Rumbeik in the upcoming few days where it would continue its works in accordance with the agreement by the two sides.

Ambassador Al-Dirdiri pointed out in the daily press briefing that all the members of the commission would move to Rumbeik direct from Khartoum.

Yasser Arman, the co-spokesman for the commission, said the First Vice President, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, and the Chairman of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM), John Garang, would make live address to the Sudanese nation from Khartoum and Rumbeik, and would provide answers about the constitution and the commission and that this live media occasion would provide a chance for the organizations of the civil society and political forces to put direct questions to each of Taha and Garang.

He also said the information committee within the commission would organize an open debate for legal persons within and outside the commission as well as the specialized university professors on the issue.

He said both events are meant to initiate a wide public debate that would serve to enlighten the Sudanese people on the Interim Constitution.
