Painful Obituary
God says:
“And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to Asâbrin (the patient) ● who, when affected with calamity, say: “Truly! To Allâh we belong and truly, to Him we shall return”
(Al-Baqarah 155-156)
With great pain and sorrow, the New Sudan Islamic Council (NSIC) announce to the people of the New Sudan, and Sudanese people in general, martyrdom of the leader of the movement, the courageous struggler, the first Vice President of the Republic of Sudan, the President of the government of South Sudan, Chairman of Sudanese People Liberation Movement (SPLM) and the Chief in Command of Sudanese People Liberation Army (SPLA) Dr. John Garang de Mabiour in a crash of Ugandan Helicopter while carrying him back to from Uganda to New Site in Sudan.
For the past twenty one years, Dr. John Garang de Mabiour has led the struggle of the movement, expressing through it the ambitions and aspirations of the marginalized people; to establish the New Sudan where everybody may find himself.
As we obituary him, we obituary in him sacrifice, self-denial and strength that allowed him with his companions to sign the comprehensive peace agreement and to move with the country to state of stability and the start of development, however god will decided to immortalize his memory through the ideal dream that he wishes to his people.
We condole his family particularly Madam Rebecca Nyandeng, we are asking God to give her strength, patient and oblivion to overcome this ordeal. We also condole the leadership of the SPLM/A, headed by his Excellency Cdr. Salva Kiir Mayardit, Chairman of SPLM and the C-in-C of the SPLA at this painful moment, hoping that the vision of Dr. John Garang de Mabiour will be flourish. We also pass our condolence to the Sudanese government headed by President Omar Hassan Elbashir for this lost.Mahmoud E. Yousif
