Karti:
the fate of UNMIS forces would be decided in next July
Khartoum, April 3(SUNA)- The
Foreign Minister, Ali Karti, said that the fate of the forces of the United
Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) would be decided in next July
Karti indicated in a press statement after his meeting with German
Minister of International Cooperation Sunday that there is a study on the need
of the two sides for these forces along with continuous assessment of the
developments of the situation
He said that his talks with the German minister included the negotiation
in Doha about Darfur issue, the referendum on administrative status of Darfur
region and the government efforts in implementing the new strategy on Darfur.
The Minister expressed hope that the visit of the German minister would be a
step for opening the horizons of cooperation between Sudan and Germany, lauding
the German supportive stance to the Sudanese issues
The German Minister of International Cooperation has hailed the role of
the government in holding South Sudan referendum which was accepted by all
parties, explaining that the meeting discussed the mandate of UNMIS forces and
the ongoing talks on Addis Ababa
He affirmed his country's commitment to fulfill its financial pledges to
support Sudan. AS/MO
