The role of technology in agricultural development programme discussed
Khartoum, Sept. 22 (SUNA) - Minister of Science and Technology Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omer, the chairman of the technology and productivity and quality department emanated from the Higher Council of the Agricultural Development Programme got acquainted in the meeting of department Monday on technologies prepared by the Agriculture Research Corporation and the Animal Resources Research Authority for increasing production in the coming winter season and the 2009 agricultural season. He underlined the importance of provision of the required inputs in time and financial support to the scientific research along with stepping up the extension efforts. The Agricultural Research Corporation explained in its report that the technologies being provided aimed to improve the crops and raise the productivity. The report said the plan set to increase the production of a feddan of sorghum from 25 bags up to 27 bags next year and that the Corporation is working for increasing the production of wheat from 25 bags per feddan up to 27 in this winter season. The Minister also heard report from General -Manager of Animal Resources Research Authority Prof. Musa Tibin who indicated to the Authority resolve to produce 100 million doses of vaccines and to develop new vaccines conforming with international standards.
