KHARTOUM, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese First Vice President Salva Kiir Mayardit met on Monday with visiting Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun who was here as a special envoy of the Chinese government.
During the meeting, the Chinese envoy conveyed greetings of Chinese President Hu Jintao and Vice President Xi Jinping to Salva Kiir, who is also the president of the government of South Sudan.
The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, the peace process between North and South Sudan, the Darfur issue, among others.
Following the meeting, the Chinese and Sudanese sides signed a document on financial assistance which the Chinese government would provide to the government of South Sudan.
Also on Monday, Zhai and Salva Kiir inaugurated a Chinese general consulate in Juba, the capital of South Sudan. پ@
