National Assembly Speaker meets Chairman of African Union
Khartoum, Sept. 8 (SUNA) - National Assembly Speaker Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tahir has met with visiting Tanzanian President, current Chairman of the African Union (AU), Jakaya Kikwete. The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries and the efforts of the government to solve Darfur issue and the role of the African Union in realizing peace as well as coordination at the African level in the United Nations on the issue of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in order not to affect the peace process in Sudan. President Kikwete affirmed keenness to help Sudan to overcome the challenges and his stance alongside it to settle all its issues to achieve stability. Al-Tahir briefed Kikwete on the parliament role in following-up the peace process in the country and boosting the efforts of the political settlement in Darfur. BH/BT
