Message from President Al-Bashir to Brazilian counterpart
Khartoum, Aug. 22 (SUNA) - State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Special Envoy of President Al-Bashir to Brazil, Ali Ahmed Karti, Thursday was received by the Brazilian presidential advisor on International Affairs, Marco Aurélio Garcia, and handed him a message from President Al-Bashir to his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva with regard to the allegations by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Sudan. The State Minister explained the risks of such movements on the future of peace in Sudan and the neigbouring countries as well as on the whole African continent, highlighting the efforts of Sudan to achieve peace in Darfur besides boosting the peace in Southern Sudan. Meanwhile, the Brazilian Presidential Adviser commended Sudan's cooperation with the United Nations and the African Union, particularly in the humanitarian domains, toward the achievement of a lasting peace in Darfur, commending the efforts of Sudan to solve the situation in the region. The Minister further met with a number of officials in the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discussed with them issues of bilateral relations. Karti also met with some members of the diplomatic corporation accredited in Brazil, members of the Sudanese community and media men, explaining to them the situations in Sudan following the signing of Naivasha peace agreement besides the efforts being exerted by the state to enforce this peace. The State Minister described the allegations of the ICC's prosecutor against the Sudan as political agenda of influential political power that seeks to achieve even at the expense of peace in the region.
